Comments: My dad was LT Robert H Gregg, MD and was a flight surgeon on the USS Bataan CVL-29 around 1950. He was with the VMF-312 corsair marine support squad using napalm for close air support. Opening up his powder-blue and yellow stenciled US Navy trunk I found his blue/white checkerboard silk scarf. He also used to wear a similar bathrob lost to time. His desk nameplate says Kunsan, Korea, but he also mentioned shore duty at P'ohang Dong. He was close to the pilots, playing cribbage with several in downtime. Other than the ship's captain, Dr Gregg was the only officer who could dispense medicinal alcohol. After each flight mission, each pilot was allowed a 3oz bottle of either whiskey, gin, or, vodka (as I recall). He said most did not take up the opportunity saying these pilots were serious, mature, often married, wanted to get the job done and get home to families. There was another patch in his trunk: MACG-2, and a red/yellow butterfly with Alla Time underneath and above Change-Change-Change, with Marine Wing Service Squadron One over the very top.

Comments: I am writing a biography of Col Jack Randolph Cram, USMC. In
Korea, he commanded MACG-2 from mid-1952-mid-1953. I would
appreciate having any recollections of Col Cram. Was he in a
flying billet? If so,what aircraft did he fly? What did MACG-2 do
during its time in Korea? Was MACG-2 subordinate to 1 MAW?

Comments: My Father, Roy Friend, was as I beleive, a Tech sargent at the time of his deployment on the Island, Cho-Do. I'm looking for any one who may have information on his unit. I'm sure that he would be suprised with any information that I can find for him.
Any help in directing my search would be appreciated, as I am not sure if MACG-2 is the unit he was assigned to.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
