Comments: I had previously written here on behalf of Mike Yi (Yi Kyong-gu). I thought that I would add a note that Mike has found his benefactor, Ellis Forgy of Tennessee, that pulled the 8-year old from the snowbank at Kimpo AB as the Chinese were about to overrun the city. He took him to Taegu with the 6164th TCS and became a "mascot" called "Bobby."

The two have been reunited via telephone and plans are afoot for the future. We wish to thank Dick Souza of the Mosquito Association for his help in putting the two together. This find is a miracle! The search goes on for others that Mike remembers. But for the moment the joy and emotional highs on both sides of the pond are maxing out.

Comments: My name is Kalani O'Sullivan and I'm writing on behalf of Yi Yong-Ku (Mike Yi). We're looking for anyone who might remember a youngster named Yi Yong-Ku who fell back with the 6164 unit to Taegu in 1951 when the Chinese overran Seoul.

He was orphaned in Kaesong when the allies moved south and brought to Kimpo AB when the Chinese entered the fray. When the Chinese were on the doorsteps of Seoul, Mike remembers the sound of bombs nearby. At that time, he was loaded up on the jeeps of the 6164th "Communications Squadron" -- as he called it. Remember that he was a kid of only about 6-7 years old. He vividly remembers the fixing of radios on the jeeps and the T-6 aircraft that flew with the unit. After the Chinese were pushed out of Seoul, the unit moved to Pyongtaek and he was placed into an orphanage there when he became sick.

At Pyongtaek, a doctor became interested in him and he somehow became "adopted" by Battery B of the 76th AAA. When the unit moved to Kunsan (K-8), he moved along with them.

Mike's story goes on and on, but the bottom line is that he has headed the Kunsan AB Hobby Shop for many years and has five daughters (four graduated from college and the last studying International Affairs.) A devout Christian he praises God for his salvation...and of course, continues to be grateful to the GIs who saved his life. He wants to thank them personally.

If any of you know of him, we would like
to reunite him with you. Please email me.

Comments: Comments: I don't know the dates, but I know my father flew the AT6 as a forward air controller. He spent only about 30 days in Korea, and flew about 60 missions (a record for the time I understand). His name is Billy D. Brown. He was a 1st lt while in Korea. He retired as a major from Shepard AFB in 1967. He has been gone now for 16 years, I missed getting to know his service history. If you served with or knew of him, please send me a note. Thank you.
