I'm listening to 4 hours of tapes my Dad, Don Fregeau (Cpl) made while his unit was parked at Sabango-ri near Uijangbu in Korea in 1952. Dad was at that spot from approximately May to November 1952. These are the names that are mentioned.

Comments: I served with the 329th arriving in January of 1956. I along with some
others were transferred to the 8609 DU field station located at Clark
AFB, Luzon, Philippines in July of 1956 where I served the balance of
my enlistment.

I have come across an old USAF approach map of that period showing
the Seoul area. The main highway, Kyongwon Main road shows
UiJongbu (Jackson CP) north to the 38th. Does anyone out there
remember the name of the little Korean Village located on a stream just
north of the 329th location? I think the village name is Tokehong.
There was a MASH unit just a short distance south. I want to pin point
exactly where the 329th was. Planning a trip.
Thanks for your help

would like to share. Names on the photos are: Spaz from

Comments: 1951-52 Larry D. Sieting, nicknamed Shakey near the
end of his tour, served with the Signal Corp 329th
Com Recom unit operating near the front lines in
Korea relaying eyes only war information by teletype.
He didn't talk much about it but said there were only
seven or eight men in that unit. They lived in tents -
the teletype equipment was housed in a truck ready
to move at any time and equipped to destroy it if
overrun by the enemy - another deuce and a half was
for the men. No one was to be taken alive. This unit
arrived in Korea in summer issue clothing in the dead
of winter and had to sleep in shifts to have enough
blankets until supplies arrived. A picture of him is
standing in front of a tent. Behind him are hills
with no trees and little or no brush. His unit of
the 329th Signal Corp received the Sigmond Rhee
citation - a shoulder patch with gold laurel leaves
on a khaki background for doing the most with the
least - and a small rectangular multi- stripped
service ribbon with three small bronze stars on it -
a purple heart and an expert riflemans medal among
other service ribbons. Those boys lived hard, and I
wouldn't be surprised, died hard. Larry died young
after a thirteen year battle with heart disease.

He was always amazed how near the 4077 MASH and his unit were, even though there was no 4077 unit, because all the MASH units there in Korea started with 8. The unit, at one time, was nearly halfway between the 8063d and the 8055th.
