Don't remember any names except for the Sarg. who was in charge of the communications room, Polish from Chicago. Now belong to the American Legion and VFW in Laughlin, NV. Just made the VFW in 1954-55 for being in Korea, about 7 miles outside Seoul. Donated money for the orphanage, which we supported, next door to our outfit. Saw an article on the kids in the L.A. Comments: I made my first entry here in 2002 but that email is
now hopelessly out of date. Served in ASA unit as mos
3717 morse code intercept operator from late 1952 thu
1954, then as instructor at Fort Devens, Mass until
1955. In Korea I remember improving my cot area by
tapping into the light which hung from the ceiling with
one lonely 40 watt bulb. I tapped into it live and run
the wire pair down to my cot and a disguised outlet.
This allowed me to have a radio, hotplate and most
importantly a heating pad in the foot of my sleeping
bag. Sorry I cannot remember many names but would love
to hear from anyone who remembers these days. I
remember well our happy R and R vacations in Japan and how
we could stretch this 7 day visit out to as much as a
month by hiding in Japan for a week or so before
reporting in for our orders and passes.

I have looked at the file for the 501st CRG,and, believe me,it is nowhere near complete. Most of the "after action" reports about ASA units in Korea is still being held by the National Security Agency, at Fort G. G. Meade, Maryland. After all, the war still isn't over, is it?
