Comments: It just came my thought that I may not have mention about the two bowling trophies that was awarded to me when I bowled in the 2nd All-Japan International Bowling Tournament in Tokyo, Japan in 1953. After a year duty in Korea, I was return to our headquarters in Tokyo, and to fill my free time, I joined our bowling team and these trophies came into my hands. I have them display on the mantle above our fireplace at home. I know only of Sgt. Joe Koziol who also has trophies but do not know what happen to him, do you know? I believe he came from Chicago. If anyone wish to see pictures of these trophies, please give me either your email address or mailing address. I had placed 5th on the singles event and 7th on all event.
God bless you. Respectfully, Stanford S. Lee

He surprised me one Saturday evening in 1953 when he return to Tokyo on an R & R with his pilot buddy and they took me across the street from the New Kaijo Building were we ate at an officer's club. Bill and I graduated from High school in 1948 in Hanford, California. We played on our high school baseball team together and he and other fellow teammates voted me to be the captain of our baseball team at the end of the season in 1948. The inscription on the vase

On the bowling figure

I know of only one other bowler who has trophies and that was Sgt. Joe Koziol the captain of the team who place 6th in the singles event and 3rd place in the All-Event, otherwise, who else can say that they have trophies from Tokyo, or any other country than the USA!

Comments: I don't know what happen to the message I started to write but here it is again.
WHAT IS AN AMERICAN? Excerpt from What Is An American letters from an American farmer.
Letter III (1782) by Hector St. John de Crevecouer
In 1755, a Frenchman named Michael-Guillaume Jean de Crevecouer arrived in North America as a soldier during the French & Indian War. At war's end he decided to settle on a farm kin New York, where he became an American citizen. Years later (1782) he reflected on what it meant to be an American, outlining the essential characteristics Americans shared. Writing under the pen name Hector St. John de Crevecouer, he produced a series of letters about the essence of America: America is not composed, as in Europe, of great lords who possess everything and, and of a herd of people who have nothing. Here are no aristocractically families, no courts, no kings, no bishops, no ecclesiastical dominion, no invisible power giving to a few a very visible one; no great manufacturers employing thousands, no great refinements of luxury. The rich and poor are not so far removed from each other as they are in Europe. Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labours and posterity will one day cause great change in the world. Americans are the western pilgrims, who are carrying along with them that great mass of arts., science, vigor and industry, which began long since in the East; they will finish the circle.....The Americans were once scattered all over Europe; here they are incorporated into one of the finest systems of population which have ever appeared, and which thereafter become distinct by the power of different climates they inhabit.....The American is a new man, who acts upon new principles; he must therefore entertain new ideas, and form new opinions. From involuntary idleness, servile dependence, penury and useless labour, he passed to toils of a very different nature, rewarded by ample substance.
This is an American.

return to our headquarters in Tokyo, Japan and my

Tribolet and after I return to the states, some years
later, I was told by my friend, Paul Ono, of Gardena,
California that my work was published, which is an
honor, and I am humbled by it. Now this message from
Colonel Haas reads that he thinks that the 6004th

effective UN/US special operations/intelligence
organization of the war. This message has to be
uplifting to my spirit, and I thank colonel Hass for
this message! Stanford S. Lee

Having been originally from Hanford, California and enlisted into the air force on 6SEP50 and discharged on 5SEP54, I am thinking that I happen to have been the only person from the California Central San Joaqun Valley who was assigned to the special unit that was the 6004th Air Intelligence Service Squadron with its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, during the Korean War. When I was assigned to Korea from 1952 to 1953, before being returned to our headquarters for 1953 to 1954, there was a special meeting that occured in my life. After several of us fellow airmen decided to see a movie in Seoul, Korea, and after the movie, as we were exiting; the door that I came out was Cardinal Spellman of New York, waiting to greet us. As he shook hands with me, he prayed for me immediately and that had to be a special moment for me. I believe that Cardinal Spellman's prayer was a factor that prevented me from being harmed. I also found out in recent years from my friends, Paul Ono, of Gardena, California and Vernon Hof, of Dothan, Alabama, that there were personnel who were Generals, Colonels, etc. who had served in the Japanese military during WWII and worked for us during the Korean War. I did not realize that, for they wore civilan suits and I saw them every monrning entering the Esquire Building where we worked. God bless you. Stanford S. Lee

Comments: According to the 6004th Air Intel Information Report IR-3478-55, VAN FLEET, James A., Jr,
(From: MISG/FE Interr Reprot #KT 3458, D/I #12344, 25 Jul 52): On 28 Mar 52, Source heard from a civilian that a UN aircraft, possibly a twin engine, crashed in the vicinity of (YC 1968) at 0100 that morning. Later that day, three caucasians were observed, about 30 years old, being marched under three guards. The three caucasians were wearing tan uniforms and brown boots. Their uniforms had zippered pockets on the trouser legs. The civilian heard that these threee caucasians bailed out from the aircraft, and the fourth was believed killed when his paprachute failed to open.
According to AF Manual 200-25, Lewis, Wayne Edwin, Subsequent Reports: 2. A captured North Korean farmer stated the he had heard that a UN plane, believed to be a twin engine bomber, crashed in the Sinyon-Ni area on or about 28 March 1952. He also heard that four men had bailed out of the plane but one was believed to have been killed because his parachute failed to open. Later that day he observed three caucasians in tan uniforms being marched past his home in Sinyon-Ni under escort of four armed guards. Hq FEAF associated the foregoing with the missing B-26 and crew.
NOTE THE SIMILARITIES AND LOCATION DISCREPANCY IN THE TWO SUMMARIES.
I really want to see the original document. If you could suggest some place to search, I would be very appreciative.
This note appears next to several airmen in the Air Intel document.
(From: TWX RDAG 9-26 and RDAG 9-021, Sep 53): Listed on the Nielsen(Neilsen)-Henderson list of USAF personnel known to be in Kaesong awaiting repatriation.

Comments: I am a government analyst working to locate and recover U.S. servicemembers who became unaccountable while serving their country. One of the cases I am working on deals with the mysterious disappearance of a Taiwanese civilian PYB-5A, nicknamed "Blue Swan or Goose," on 1 Oct 1958 while returning from Matsu to Taiwan with four U.S. servicemen onboard. Does anyone have any information on this, or know of someone who may be able to help?
Sincerely,
Ben
