Comments: I was stationed at Ohare Field when the 437th got recalled and our whole outfit joined up with them at Shaw Field. I was with the 84th until our crew came back to Memphis in May 1952

Comments: I was with the 437 Trrop Carrie Wing at O'Hare Field in Chicago Illinois from Oct 1949 till they were activated for Korea. Have numerous newspaper articles on the personnel while in Korea. Put in inactive - I joined the regular USAF and after basic was at Shaw AFB SC where the 437th trained before going overseas. Lt. Oscar Friedman was still at the base and we continued to be friends until his death. I was a pen pal to George Popescu while he was in Korea.

Comments: My Uncle was in the Air Force, stationed at various Air Bases in the Far East during the Korean War. He recently passed away and my Aunt gave me several old coins, I am a collector, one of which was a Tachikawa Airmens Open Mess 5c token. I was stationed on Okinawa in the early '80's but never heard any mention of this Air Base in Japan. Could you tell me if the base is still operational? I know several bases in the far east have been closed, Naha in okinawa and Clarke in the Philippines to name two. Any information would be appreciated. CW4 Charles R. Bondurant
