Comments: We are looking for anyone who might remember Neil Barber. (Tina Jackson is friend with computer access/skills helping him in search). Part of Neil's service record has been lost, according to St. Louis, and he is trying to verify MOS for service related injury eligibility for care at VA. He did not keep in touch with anyone he served with, many of whom were older men (they were a reserve group brought into 437th), and is afraid that many he served with may no longer be with us. (He is 78 himself). If there is anyone out there who remembers him, or even if you just might have some suggestions on who we should contact, or where to look, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

He died in August 2004 and I am creating a display case of his Korean War service. Patches of this era seem impossible to come by, so does anyone know where I could see an image of any of the following insignias from the Korean War era: 85th and/or 86th Troop Carrier Squadrons and/or 437th Troop Carrier Wing (M) If I could at least see a color image, I am hopeful I could have a surrogate patch or insignia or plaque created. The 437th Troop carrier Wing, with 48 C-46Curtis Commando Aircraft, was an Air Force Reserve organization, stationed at the 2471st Air Force Reserve Training Center,Ohare Field, Orchard Place, Cook County(Chicago),Illinois. Comments: I am undertaking an impossible search for an Airfoceman, who alledgedly died in the Vietnam conflict around 1963. This is the story of the aftermath of the devestated family he left when he disappeared. Unfortunately his name has been lost.
He had an 8 year old child with a Japanese typist/stenographer called Hatsu Yanagida. He never married Hatsu. Hatsu died shortly after his death/disappearance in a car accident. She left Yuko, 8 years old, no home, no family, American or Japanese, willing to take care of her. She went into the Seibi Orphanage, where she was taken care of.
I am the wife of this man`s grandchild, Ryu Fujiyama - Yuko went on to have 3 children with Junichiro Fujiyama. I am pregnant with this man`s greatgrandchild, and we simply want the truth. If he died, we would like to know how and where. If he went back to America and deserted his family, we would like to meet any distant family, if they wish to meet us.
Most importantly Yoko would like some resolution. I am English by nationality, and do not feel the shame felt by the Japanese side of this family that has been of greatly affected by this man`s irresponsibility, or tragic death. His decendants have been the butt of racism here in Japan, and not accepted because they have American blood, and they have been refused American greencards.
If anyone knew Hatsu Yanagida and the father of her child, Yuko, we sould greatly appreciate any information or assistance in righting this wrong.
I respect America and American Servicemen, and the great sacrifices made by them. I feel great sadness, however at this lost history. Good or bad, the truth is all we ask, and we promise not to judge if he or his family want to come forward.
Thank you for all your help.
