Keywords: Greetings,
My father passed away in 1997 and I was going through his scrap book and found some pictures of him during his service in the Navy. I believe he served on the Tacoma....I have no pics of the ship...just some handwritten notes that are hard to read). I was wondering if anyone served with Del Durham or if anyone can confirm his assignment to the Tacoma? He served in teh Korean War.
Also, how would I get information about my dad's service? Is there a Navy office that I can contact for info?
Any help would be appreciated....thanks for your time.

Comments: I know that this is a Korean War site, but my grandfather served aboard the USS Tacoma during WWII and I am looking for a photograph of the vessel. I am willing to compensate anyone who can make me a copy of any photo of the ship. I have attempted to find photos in the Naval Archives, but had no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Comments: Embarked on first leg of return to US after a year as gunnery officer and operations officer for FAW-4 on Attu. FAT was PF3 so I went. Departed Attu evening of Jan 31 and soon after clearing land we picked up a Jap sub on sonar. It stayed with us nearly all night and we were in heavy seas...green water coming over the conn. Cold, snow and ice. That sub stayed with us and we dropped depth charges and sent off hedge hogs several times...but it stayed..until early AM Feb 1 and did not show up on sonar again after the last depth charge attack. There must be a ships log somewhere with a record of the incident and I would like to find it. Can anyone help?
Keywords: Would like to find how to confirm Japanese Sub sinking by USS Tacoma PF3 while I was aboard night of January 31/Feb 1 1945, between Attu and Adak in the Aleutions.
