Comments: My Father turned 81 years old in November and ever since I was a little kid, he would always tell me about his time in the Navy. He told me he was stationed in Okinawa but we have been unable to find any paperwork or people who may have served with him. It would have been 1953-1957 I believe.

Comments: Gordon Turnage, b.1935 Arapaho, Colorado joined our Korean Veterans Group in Queensland, Australia. He said he served on the Kermit Roosevelt ARG 16 in Korea.
He passed away on 15 October 2013. We could not find any relatives, can anyone help?
We would like to have a remembrance plaque for him on our Memorial Wall, but like to know more details.

searched and searched for any survivors that may have served with
him. I do know he was there when the Atomic Bomb was dropped, I

Comments: Comments: I would like to hear from my buddies who served with me during the Hungnam and Hamhun evacuations and Wonson Beach. I remember bringing aboard Pirate and Pledge wounded, mines in water and the mines exploding. Also the repair of the many Mine Sweepers and other ships we tended to during the Korean War. My buddies I would like to hear from are; Hank Wiesenhaven,Chuck Clark,James Kastrenakes, my best friend,Ken Peterman,Peabody from Colorado Springs, Co and others who served with me on the ARG-16.

Comments: My grandfather, Gerald "Jerry" Guthrie, was on the USS Hector. I'm not sure when - sometime from 1948-1952. I believe he was an EM. If anybody remembers him, please email me. Comments: As the R1 Div. Police Petty Officer, I have a list of most of the personnel that was in the R1 div. in 1955, also their mustering out dates. I also have a list of the Cheif Petty Officers on board at that time. We were all under Division Officer CWO P.A.Sciotto.

Wow, 50 yrs ago, hard to believe.

Comments: My father, Roman Vogel, was on the USS Kermit Roosevelt minesweeping navy operation, Wonson Korea, 1948-1951. He told me that he would like to have a picture of the insignia they had. It was Felix the Cat holding a mine in one hand and a broom in the other. If anyone could provide me with a copy, I would appreciate it. Also, the sign they put up on Wonson beach read "This beach is all yours thru courtesy of mine squadron three." Any info or photos would be appreciated.

Comments: I'm looking for anyone who might have known my dad. He would have served on the Kermit Roosevelt in the mid- to late 50's as a mechanic of some sort. Sadly, he died in 1994. I have two stories I remember from him- One of an incident involving a collision or near collision with a Chinese vessel in the China sea and the other an accident in which he broke his neck in a fall while attempting to climb into an upper bunk bed.

I know he was very young when he served. If any of this rings a bell, I'd love to hear some more of the stories.
