Comments: My father served in the Korean War on the USS Higbee. He was in
on his first leave and saw my mom walking on the other side of the
street and told his buddy the that was the girl he would marry.
Daddy wasted no time (he only had 3 weeks leave). They were
married within 2 weeks. He passed in 1977 and I miss him dearly.

Comments: I served on the USS Higbee DDR 806 from 1952-1956. I was in the
foward engine roon helping to run the fresh water evaporators and later
became the water king, I did three trips to South Korea. Our ship visited
many south eastern ports. I didn't attend any reunions. I do remember
the two Beson boys, not related, from North or South Dakota?. If you
know of these guys let me know. I do here from Al Philbeck in Green Bay,
Wisconsin. He is doing fine with his family.
Thank You for any information. Ted Drake MM/2

home by 1953, when he married my mother, Betty L. Smith. Dad died of
Alzheimer's in 1999.
He has a scrapbook filled with many pictures of Korea and used to tell
stories about his time in the service. My uncles all served in Korea as well
- Navy, Theodore Marshall
- Air Force, Michael E. Smith, William Smith
I would love to hear from anyone who remembers my dad.

Comments: would love any information or pics of his time on the Higbee. He use to talk about it when I was younger. He had made a model of the ship we had on the fireplace but that disappeared. Just would like any info about the ship, pictures and its time during the Korean War. Would appreciate anything. Thank you.
Keywords: My brother died in 1977 at 47. We were 18 years apart. He had been married and divorced so any pics he had of the ship are gone. He has two sons, one is 46 and getting married. I am his only aunt and for his wedding gift I am putting an album together of his dad's pics and a brief history of his life.

Comments: My dad, Herbert (Buck) Downey was on the USS Higbee with Mr. Culpepper sometime between 1951 and 1953. He has been trying to find out anything about him for awhile now, and I am now trying to help him out, now that I have a computer. Please feel free to e-mail me, if you have any information. My dad was friends with Mr. Culpepper, but they were separated at some point, and lost touch, I believe sometime after my dad's wedding. Jim was an attendent at my dad's wedding, too.
Thank you, for any assistance.
