Comments: U.S. NAVY TELEMAN 2 (CRYPTOGRAPHER) TRANSFERRED FROM
FASRON 10 MOFFETT FIELD TO COMMANDER FLEET AIRWING 6,
IWAKUNI ON 27 FEB. 1954. AT THAT TIME IWAKUNI WAS A
U.S. AIR FORCE BASE WHICH INCLUDED AN AUSTRALIAN UNIT
AND A MARINE CONTINGENT. THE COMMANDER WAS A COMMODORE;
BUT DO NOT RECALL HIS NAME. COMFAIRWING 6 CONTROLLED
RECON FLIGHTS FROM OKINAWA. WOULD LIKE TO ACQUIRE/VIEW
THE UNIT INSIGNIA FOR COMFAIRWING 6.
16 MARCH 1955 TRANSFERRED TO VR2,NAS ALAMEDA FOR
DISCHARGE.

Comments: This is to report to other members of CFAW-6 that Radioman, Charles "Chuck" A. Denison, of Newport Oregon, passed away on April 17, 2010, after a brief severe illness. His ashes were laid to rest on May 14, 2010, at Willamette National Cemetary in Portland Oregon, with Military Guidance and Protocols. He has never forgotten his activity with FW6 and, prior to his illness, was able to attend a reunion of many members. He remained a steadfast true American sailor to his passing. Fair winds and following seas were with him; may they be with you all as well.

Comments: I was with FAW-6 at the time of its decommissioning, and transition to
FAW-ONE Detachment iwakuni. I had read some of the Wing's history
during my time from 1969-1972. Please help me. I was lead to believe
that FAW-6 was formed on USS Salisbury Sound, but also was told that
FAW-6 was commissioned at NAS Atsugi, not Iwakuni, under Captain John
C. Alderman. During the Korean War, wasn't Iwakuni an RAAF base
instead?

Comments: Looking to hear from anyone that was stationed at Iwakuni, Japan in 1966 and 1967. I had a good buddy, Doug Gruber and Gene Watson, Lcdr Vernon, Cdr McEachern and many more. Also LTJG Takahara with the Japanese Navy. We had many good times.
