The C-47 plane he was piloting was shot down and he survived, but was seriously injured. He was never told what happened to the children on the flight or who rescued him. This bothered him his entire life and all follow-up inquires about the covert mission were ignored. It was as if the mission never happened. I have a ten page written description of the operation that he wrote up in 1994 if somebody thinks they may be able to provide more information on the incident. Please email me and I will forward a pdf file. He knows that there was another pilot who was also involved in the mission named Tommy Lincoln. Thanks for any information.

My dad fondly spoke of his buddy Vogue and his squadron Lamb, Meeks, Hopkins,
My dad volunteered to pick up a downed Thunderjet that had malfunctioned and was
repaired.

Not one of the boys would volunteer as they knew it was risky as the mechanic had
no way of knowing how well it was repaired! They were stationed right after the
war at Kadena base in Okinawa. Dad-Captain Gerald Glade- volunteered. He said
he was having fun and even showed off(a little)

He was flying over shark infested swamp waters. He brought the F_*$Thunderjet in
and shut it down. Just then the engine exploded and caught fire. The guys
were waiting with fire extinguishers and dad jumped through the flames onto the
ground unharmed. I believe he said it was on MAY 8 th 1955? My mother, Marilyn
passed away on May 8th a year ago. We are having the memorial service and

dad.
Please email me. We wrote to Vogue but received no answer. If you ever got the
