Comments: My aunt, 1st Lt. Virginia Taylor, was the nurse on the 8138th hospital train #105. My aunt wrote to the Pennsylvania Railroad, asking for a dinner chime (which they gladly sent) to boost the morale of the wounded. The chime has been donated to the Ft. Sam Houston AMEDD Museum, San Antonio, TX. I am writing a book about the 8138th hospital trains and hoping there are others who might be able to provide stories, pictures, etc. My aunt, the only nurse present during the tragic Korean School train wreck on Sept 17, 1952, received a letter of appreciation from Captain Gerhard Neweria. I have personal pictures and news article, but always searching for more.

Comments: I was stationed with the Hospital Trains. We were quartered on the Pusan Docks. I was on the first train that made the trial run for the prisoner exchanges to Panmonjom. Would like to hear from anyone who remembers the trains, seems as though the Unit dropped off the face of the earth.
