Comments: I am seeking anyone with information about Frank Wayne Schuler. I'm told he was in the 179th Infantry, 45th Division, discharged 7 Feb 1944, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. He was a Private First Class. I have what I believe to be his serial number.
Frank Wayne was my uncle, and I am trying to locate him or information about him. Thank you.

Comments: My father was in the 45th Infantry division, the Thunderbirds.
My dad was in communications and I am trying to find some kind of stories about what and where the Communication guys did and went.
Dad has been gone for 19 years and he told a few stories of how they stayed warm on the blustery cold nights outside and the comradery with his buddies,
(but they have all passed away), but he never talked about gun fire, enemies----why ?---- I would like to know, if he didnt see action or didnt speak of it.
I assume he was traveling in front in order to communicate back, but there must have been danger involved in that also.
I'm his oldest daughter and looking for someone that served with him and could possibly fill me in on what my dad went through in Korea.
I want to write the best about him in our family history, we are Proud that he served and every other member in our family that has served our Country.

Comments: Ms. Ella Switzer from Hemet, CA, has a quilt that she made. Her husband was in the 45th. His name was Cano there were 7 Cano boys. They raffled the quilt to raise money for rental of the annual meeting hall. The person winning the quilt had their name and year embroidered on it and kept it for a year. The next year they returned the quilt to be raffled again. The winner and year was applied again and they kept the quilt for a year. This went on she said for 20 years. This lady is 90 yrs and would like to find a home for the quilt with the 45th Division. Is there a headquarters or someplace she could give the quilt for occasional display?

Comments: dad was a reservist from hebburn tyne and wear,
who now has sadly departed, who recorded pictorially episodes of the battery since it,s arrival in korea, mostly cartoons which ended up in newspapers, hence we found the newspaper cutting of his story.
sadly dad did suffer after this war,and as children bore the brunt of it.
but as we got older we came to understand and respect what he and thousand of men went though,as he used to say we are the forgotten army.
but i dedicate this letter to my dad and all that fought with him and have earned our admiration and respect.
rest in peace dad.

We don't know what this honor was for. If anyone can help me find this out or where to look I would be most appreciative.
