Comments: Looking for anyone who knew Sgt. Douglas Anderson in November and December 1950. My Dad said he was thrown from his tank and had been captured with a group of his men around Thanksgiving and subsequently released with in days or weeks. An MIA letter was sent to my mother, but we cannot find it. We have war department notifications of his injuries prior to capture in his military records, but can't find anything on MIA notifications. After he and some others were released/escaped and returned to his company, he was sent to Fitzsimmons for several months because of injuries. Trying to get benefits for my 90 year old mother.

Comments: I need information from someone in the 38th Tank Co. that can help me find out where we were in a roadblock on 28th Nov. 1950. The Army has the date of my wound on the 30th in so-ming-dong. This must be wrong as the Chinese were there on that date. Our tank Co was with us at the time. I recall a little about that AM. The AM on the 28th. We had left a small hamlet and everything stopped. The Chinese had put up a strong roadblock. They were shooting down on us from a hill on the left side of the pass. I met up with a enemy grenade. I was put under one of your tanks for protection. As the battle raged on I looked down the line of tanks and saw two enemy jump on a tank. As the hatch was unlocked the lifted it up a little. I was told that the tank crew pulled it closed and took off some fingers of one of the Chinese. It was about 25 below. It got to the point that every man for himself done what they could. At the time we had orders to hold back the Chinese so the rest of the 2nd Div. could get out. I was told the the 23rd got out on a different road after the roadblock. If anyone can help me to clear up my memory on this, PLEASE let me know. I can call you or e-mail. I would rather call as it is faster and more questions can be ask. Thank you Bob

Comments: My grandfather, William C. Kennedy, was a Srgt. in the 38th Inf. Regt. Tank Company 2nd Division from 1952-1953. On the night before he was to rotate out, Lt. John Martin pulled up in a Jeep and asked for a volunteer. My grandfather volunteered to go with him to Outpost Harry. It was during the monsoon season and as they were on their way up the mountain, they were under constant enemy observation. As they made it to Outpost Harry, they came under heavy enemy fire for about 24 hours. Together, they narrowly made it out alive.
I have grown up hearing my grandfather's war stories and he has always, ALWAYS spoken of Lt. John Martin and how much he'd like to find him. It would mean the world to my Papaw if he was able to see or speak with this man again. I know that Lt. Martin was originally from Greenville, MS. He also served in the National Guard in the Dixie Division, Papaw says. If anyone has any information on him, please email me . Thanks so much!

Comments: Can anyone from the Th Tank Co. help me get a closure on the spot where I received my ND wound. The Army has the date of Nov. Th in the area of So-mingdong. From the maps and my thoughts it could not have been on the Th, as the chinks had that area. I still think it was on the Th. The Th Tank Co was there. We were in a roadblock. It was just before dawn when I got wounded. The chinks were looking down on us and the road was blocked. That is when I got the hand grenade in my leg. I was put under a tank for protection until the roadblock was broken. I recall looking down the road behind me and saw a chink jump on one of the tanks, but did not get the hatch open. I just want to know where the roadblock was. I always thought it was the bad one in Kuniri, but the time does not seem right for that. Can anyone help that was there. I do know that the 23Rd Regt. was able to get out. It was every man for himself for awhile.

Comments: Hello, my name is SSG Daniel Marsh. I currently serve in 2nd ID as a NBC NCOIC. I am up in Camp Casey near Tongduchon.
All the NCOs recently visited the 2nd ID war museum. I knew that my grandfather served in the Korean War and found out that he used to be the CO of 38th Tank. His name was Henry Edward Bown (should have been a CPT at the time). I never had a chance to meet my grandfather. He passed away before I could meet him. My mother said that he was extremely quiet about korea but mentioned that at one time he and his outfit were in really bad shape behind enemy lines. I dont know if the BC is still around. In anycase I was wondering if anyone knows the BN, or BDE of the division then or where the unit is now. I think I want to try to get assigned there at that BDE level or in a BN if there is a slot available.
In anycase if anyone can provide me info I would appreciate it.
