Comments: Transferred into VMF 115 Dec.'49 @ Edenton, NC and transferred out August,'52 @ Pohang Dong (K3). Was MOS 6412 and worked in engine shop for entire tour of duty with sqd. Sqd. received the first F9F-2's in the Corps in 1949. At that time we used 115/145 aviation gasoline with a 10% addition of 1100 weight avition oil to lubricate the Vickers designed high pressure fuel pumps on the J42 engine. I don't think jet fuel had been invented at time. In 1951, I believe, jet fuel (JP) became available. We went over to Korea with F9F-4's, J33A-16 engine, switched to used Navy -2's, J42-P6 for interium period, then back to -4's after Allision fixed an impeller problem with the J33. Went into sqd. as corporal (E3) and transferred out a Tsgt.(E6). Promotions were usually fast if you kept your nose clean. Anybody out there that remembers me,"Clem",would like to hear from you. I've still got a squadron patch from that era if anyone wants an email copy, plus possibly some photos if I can find them, and a "Portrex" postcard from Puerto Rico (NAS Roosevelt Roads)1950 vintage. Semper Fi, Msgt
Roger (Clem) Clements USMC retired.

Comments: My dad was a Marine in World War II and the Korean War. He did not fly aircraft but I have run across an 8x10 glossy of a VMF115 with the number 6 on the nose. It was behind another picture in an album and therefore is in excellent shape. I have no idea why he had this picture or what I should do with the picture. His name was John Ferguson if any of you know him I would love to hear from you. If there are any suggestions on what to do with the photo, those suggestions are welcome as well. There is a pilot in the picture and the aircraft is in flight.

Comments: I joined VMF115 at El.Toro in June.1955 at that time many men were coming back from Korea. We were using the F9F Panthers. Our Squardon was called ABLE EAGLES,Which was marine Air Group 33 1st Marine Air Wing.
I was with the Squardon until they got the F4D Skyrays in 1957 sometime after that they renamed the Squardon as a (Intersepter Sguardon)and changed the number letter, and they were shipped to Japan.
While I was a hyd. mech.in the Squardon I cannot rember very many names and would like to contact anyone else that was in during that time,I was discharged in 1957,I would also like to know if VMF115 is still a active Squardon it was great being apart of it and the Corp.
