A motor shell happen to fall in the fox hole and Don faced the other Marine as they were suposed to do;but for some reason the other Marine paniced and did not face Don,so Don shoved him out of the way. My question is this... can anyone tel me about my uncle?

His name in the Marines was Private First Class Donald Ray Whitmore and he was in the fist Marine Division. If anyone knew him please help me and tell me all about him. All I know is what I told you here and he was married to Jean Whitmore. He had no children.

He received a serious wound to the right leg. A second Marine in the same command, who lost both legs below the knee in this action, had a son who became Captain of the Corps of Cadets at the Air Force Academy -sometime between the late 70's and mid-80's.
