Comments: I am researching the life of my Father John (Jack) T
Quinn and would like to hear any stories about him.
Did he serve in the 58th?
I understand the 58th flew F-84s. What markings and
colors identified a jet as being from the 58th.
What unit/squadron had two yellow tail strips (one
over and under the tail id number)?
Thank you.

Comments: My Father passed away 6 years ago, but he had a patch from his time in the Air Force and Korean War. I came across this squadron patch of his and i was wondering about it. It is gray and blue and has an eagle with a red head and the body of what looks to me like a fighter jet. 5 stars on one side of the eagle and 8 stars on the other. Here is a link to a photo of the patch.
http://ljmilitaria.com/usafsquadronspatches/usaf_44th___299th.htm
It is listed on that page under 58th and it says 58th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron 58th Tactical Fighter Squadron
on top above the patch for description. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Suzanne

that most significant time in so many lives. My life still holds both the sweet and sad memories of that time.

Comments: 1/Lt. Bob Ford was killed in an F-86F crash on March 11, 1957. He was a pilot in the 311th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 58th FB Wing, Osan AFB, Korea.
I was stationed in the 311th during that time and have done a memorial web site honoring Bob Ford. At the request of his widow, Libby, I have also included my memories of that year in Korea and Formosa. Photos on the web site and in my memoirs might bring back memories. If you have photos or input which you think will enchance the web site, please e-mail them to me.
You can find the 1/LT. BOB FORD MEMORIAL web site by going to the REFERENCE page of the Korean War Project web site; or by going to http://www.BOB-FORD-MEMORIAL.com
Thank you and God bless,
