Comments: My father, Luther Huffman, was a desk sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed at Warner Robins around 1952-1953. He used to tell me stories, and I remember him mentioning the Korean War. My father passed away in 1988. He was from Macon, GA. I would love any information about the Air Force at this time and/or the Korean War. Thank you. Deb

HE WAS IN THE AIR FORCE AND HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH AMMUNITION. HE COULD POSSIBLY BEEN INVOLVED IN R&D.

THANK YOU.

Comments: I drove 6x6 trucks hauling bombs and ammunion from
the beach to revetnents in the hills. We had the
beach covered with bombs and Army artillery shells up
to 8 inchs. One day smoke was seen risindg fome a
case of fuses, upon which time we hurriedly left in
the trucks for a sfe place behind a hill. Soon a
giany fireball rose when the first of several
explsions tkk place. The entire beach was blown back
some distance, railroad cars had the wood blown out,
buildings nearby were demommolished. Severl more
explosions went off, throwing large piecec nearly a
half mile away to our base.
I have many photos of the countryside and people. A
memorable time in my life. Harold Gilbertson

I have pictures of parts of the base being disassembled and of the ammo being moved out to ships in Jan Sang Po bay. Spent the last of my tour at K-9.

Have pictures of Ed Dropkin, Bill Marden, Dr Whittington, Po Chia sometimes called Pork Chops. Have pictures of the radio room. Have pictures of the nearby Army POL (Can't remember the name). Have pictures of the main gate with it's sign. Have pictures of chapel and other things.

If you e-mail me please mention K-11 in the subject line so I can recognize it from the junk mail.

Comments: My brother David P McIntosh enlisted in the 179th FIS, Minnesota Air National Guard in 1950 as a munitions/weapons specialist. The unit was activated and he was sent to Korea via Camp Stoneman on the Simon Bolivar Buckner. I'm not sure of the exact dates that he was there but I beleive it was 1951-53. He was assigned to the 547th and I have 2 different 547th patches. He was there when the ammo dump blew up and I remember seeing a lot of pictures while it was still exploding. Also several pictures of No. Korean POW's getting off LST's guarded by ROK troops. He returned home, was released from active duty and remained in the Minnesota ANG. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant with 37 years service as NCOIC of Munitions where he spent his entire career. He passed away in 1990 at the age of 59.
