Comments: From the time that I arrived on Guam in early 1952 through the end of the Korean War (when I rotated back to the States, was discharged in December 1953 and went to college), the B-29 equipped, hurricane-hunting and upper-atmosphere-sampling unit at Andersen AFB was designated the 54th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron. I have no idea where or when the numbers 514 came along.
As further back-up, there were sister units called the 56th SRS at Yokota AFB, Japan, and the 57th SRS at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. They were all under the 2143rd Air Weather Wing in Tokyo.

Comments: Pop never talked about his experienes. I know that he was a Crew Chief on a B-17 in Italy--But That's it. When I was 3 or 4 I traveled to Guam with my Brother and Mom to be with Pop. We then went to Travis AFB and ended up at Dover AFB, DE. Pop died after calling Bingo at his beloved Elks lodge in Milford, DE.
