Comments: I remember how surprised and in awe I was of the fact that my air base was a building called The New Kaijo. But what would you expect from a 17 year old from Brooklyn, New York, who fell instantly in love with Tokyo because it reminded him of The Big Apple? It had all I needed, especially Jazz, the music of my life and culture, and part of my future professional, which was as a writer ( and sometimes a Music Critic).
Anyway, to any former Airmen who remember my me, give us an hello or Aloha! since I have retired in Hawaii.
Aloha Nui loa!

Probably the best duty a 17 year old guy could have
had. Being served in one of four mess halls in the New
Keijo bldg. Great food. Crossing the street out of
the bldg into the best Airman's club in the world. 10
cent nites, and there were quite a few. Worked in the
Comm Center in the Meiji bldg. We would walk the 2 or
3 blocks to the Dia Ichi bldg to see Gen Macarther
going to his car. Now that I'm thinking about it, that
was 62 years ago. Where the heck has the time gone.
Great memories.
