Comments: My father, Robert S. Frantz, was a pilot during the Korean War, he flew a B-25, Mitchell, I believe, not sure where he was stationed out of, I know he spent a lot of time in the South Pacific, but have no idea what group he was attached to?
In 1960 we were stationed at Tachikawa, Japan, I believe the 1503rd Transport Wing, as Material Control Officer? He was not a pilot at that time.
Wish I could remember names of people that he was acquainted with, the only last name I can come up with is Richardson, I believe they had a son and daughter, I think the wife's name was Adelle, not sure if that is spelled correctly!
Any information would be appreciated, Thank You

I have many fond memories of the time I spent at Haneda, traveling to the many unique locations with my associates, e.g. Mt. Fuji, Lake Hakoni, Nikko and of course all the neighboring towns.
I was involved in the rescue of airmen who survived a C-54 crash returning from Clark Field with supplies for the officers' club and several others. At one time I had and office in the fire department building while I was working as the base fire inspector.
Favorite hobby was taking my laundry over to the Virgin Peak Laundry.

Comments: I was a passenger and flight specialist in the main terminal at Haneda.
In addition to handling U.S. service personnel and their dependents we
greeted and assisted various U.S. entertainers that arrived on flights
from the mainland to participate in USO shows throughout the Far East.
Among these celebrities were Bill Holden, Mickey Rooney, Debby
Reynolds, Ava Gardner, Clark Gable and Aldo Ray. The one that
impressed me the most was Ava Gardner. After she arrived my
supervising officer, Capt. Craig, called me aside and asked if I wanted
to pose with her at a press conference to be conducted in the terminal.
I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't and I readily accepted. She was
very pleasant and seemed to be enjoying her first visit to Japan. On
another occasion I was asked to be an extra in the Columbia Pictures
movie Three Stripes in the Sun staring Aldo Ray. You can only surmise
that I enjoyed my tour of duty at Haneda but most of the time I really
did. I now wonder if any other U.S. Air Force personnel that served over
there were so lucky. I would like to hear from them if they were.
