Comments: I found this site after searching for information about the squadron patch on my father's flight jacket.
As best I can tell, my father LCDR Eugene E Thies, served in the early 1950s aboard the USS Bataan.
My father passed away on 26 December 1983 and is burried at Arlington National.
I would greatly appreciate learning all I can about VS-25.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the memory of VS-25.

Comments: The USS Bataan (CVL-29) Association is looking for Arnold Gordon who was an AT assigned to VS25 when they were flying ASW from the Bataan in the early 50's off Okinawa. Gordon's aircraft went down with the resultant loss of two crew members. He was the sole survivor. The CVL-29 Association wants to publish an article in our newsletter which tells Arnold's story. Comments: I was an aviation technician and flew as a crewman on TBM's and AF2S's. I was flying in the TBM that made the 5,000 th landing on the Bairoko. Also, I was part of the original complement of VS 25. I would like to hear from anyone who might have served with me or who served in VS 25.

Comments: I was Senior Line Petty Officer in VS-25 from 1962-64, I was an ADR2 at the Time. After the 62-63 cruise on board USS Yortown I put in for a received Orders for change of rate "A" School, and went to AX "A" School in early 1964. I retired from the Navy in 1972 at NAS Moffett Field, I was attached to VP-50 at my retirement time.
