I am a senior level Civil/Structural Engineer still working full time in my field at Hanford WA.

Comments: from san diego,san francisco,seattle, we carried debris from the bikiniatoll atom bomb tests (I was told) we pulled into these ports a couple times
in 1946. I never saw the ship flood her tank deck
to release small boats etc.Very interesting.I did
not know she was in the Korean conflict.

Comments: I served on the Fort Marion for about 18 months, long enough to complete one far east tour. I was a personnelman (yeoman) in the ship's office and served as captain's phone talker most of the tour (until he threw me off the Conn; that's another story.

I know he served on the USS Fort Marion and that he had Machinists Mate training and was also possibly a fireman and he always said he was a UDT but havent found evidence of that yet.
