Comments: Worked for JW Fish MR1 and MRC Warner. I machined the brass bell that hung in the Little America Bar in San Juan, Puerto Rico just down a ways from the pier where we tied up. You might remember that better than me. Good ship, good crew.. Left her in the shipyard at Boston,Mass. in July of 62. She was homeported at Newport, Rhode Island

Comments: Arrived aboard the Arcadia in early 66 until my discharge in 67 which was put on hold over the Pueblo incident. Worked as a clerk typist in the repair office and then as a printer in the print shop. Many fond memories of the crew and her officers, was the driver for the skipper during duty days and he was one of the nicest/honorable officers I've ever met.

Comments: I served on the Arcadia from 1963 to 1965. We made a few trips to Puerto Rico and a trip to Orange Texas. Thank God the skipper didn't like ice and snow, eh? I was an Aviation Storekeeper 2nd Class on board to keep track of the "Polish, Plastic canopy", the only aviation item on board. Actually I was there for the Dash Copter spares that never materialized. I did manage to get my name on the Sailor of the Quarter plaque that was mounted just aft of the mess deck. I have often hoped that someone pulled that plaque down and kept it safe before the Arcadia was turned in to razor blades. I would be grateful to hear from whom ever has it or some one that knows where it went.

Comments: The only sea duty I saw was a trip to Earl, NJ, to on-load ammo. We then spent the weekend @ the 42nd pier in New York City followed by a trip to Pureto Rico to off-load ammo. Once in PR, we took up a spot next to a pier and commenced to take liberty for what seems now to be an incredibly short period of time. A trip back to Newport where we once again resumed guarding the pier. I
was only on the ship for a short peiord of time, perhaps 3 or 4 months. It was fun! I was looking forward to trip to Key West when I was re-move to the base hospital to have my appendix removed.

Comments: Looking for Boilermakers who were on board from
Mar.1960 to July,1964. Like to hear from them.
I can remember we made two trips to Korea, I remember making three or four trips but some of them could
have been on the USS Fletcher (DD\DDE445). We entered the combat zone on 28 June 1953 and departed July 27,1953. This is
from the Chief of Naval Personnel
Keywords: I'm sorry I do'nt have the exact dates for the USS George (DE697) but I served on board from Apr.1949 to March 1953. The George was in San Diego at the time I was transfered to the USS Fletcher (DD445) in Pearl Harbor in Apr. 1953 to Jun.1955.I'm
sorry but that is all I have.
