Comments: My father William J. McAuley enlisted near Boston MA on 16 Sep 1950 at age 17 yo 3 mos and served at Camp Pendleton before being shipped out to Korea. He was discharged from Camp Pendleton in Dec 1954. He had trained to be a sniper due to excellent marksmanship, but once in Korea was chosen for brand new radio program because he learned very quickly, resulting in a new assignment as radioman. He went by "Billy," "Bill," or "Blue" do to his large, intense blue eyes. He was Boston Catholic Irish.
He settled in Oceanside after discharge. He died 1 Oct 1996 of brain cancer at age 63, in Portland OR. He would've been 90 in 2023.
I'm looking for any and all info about him from fellow Marines, or their family, regarding his service in Korea or stateside. Thank you very much.

I remember he mentioned boot camp at Camp Legune and I’m thinking he mentioned something about Parris Island. He did not speak very much about his experience.
I’m wanting to find if anyone served with or knew him. Any information or pictures would be welcome. I have a few pictures even some with Marine buddies but I do not know their names.
I would look forward to hearing.

Lowell Winfred (Winford) Gregory, graduated boot camp Platoon 77 Fourth Recruit Battalion, MCRD Parris Island S. C. March 27 1951.
Then went to San Diego Ca. after that. Is what we heard.
I also heard that he was a DI but it is hard for me to see him as a DI with only 1 stripe, and he got out in 1952??...
He was Born May 29 1929 Paragon, Morehead, Rowan County Ky.
He died In Dayton Montgomery county Ohio, May 9 2001.
I am trying to get any info for my wife because he never talked to her about when he was in the Marines, except for 1 picture we found, his boot camp graduation picture.
And the picture is very distorted and blurry we cannot make out any faces.
Any info and pictures would be a great asset, and a surprise to my wife,
as she was a only child and did not really know her father.
