Comments: I only recently learned that the unit that my father
John De Jesus served in while in the U.S. Army during
the Korean War, was the 765th.
My father just died while under home hospice on 28 Nov
2012. He is buried here in Peachtree City, GA where he
lived for the past 40 years having moved down from
Massachusetts.
I would appreciate if anyone that knew my father would
write and let me know.

Comments: I am working on a web site dedicated to my Dad's military service both in WWII and Korea. He was always a member of a ROB or TMRS unit. In WW II it was the 743rd. I think the ROBS are so interesting and frequently overlooked in history of the war. My Dad also served in the 765th and 3rd TMRS in Korea and the 8010th in Japan so I am interested in many ROB groups and have done a web site for each one of these and the 765th site includes a " those who served page" and a great history of the Pershing #101 locomotive.

My Dad was Capt Bill Griffin he was in ETO 1942-1945 and Korea 1951-1955. I would be interested in hearing from veterans of the ROB and MRS units.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Comments: The National Railroad Museum, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has in its collection of rolling stock a Pershing-class steam locomotive currently numbered 101, but was numbered in the past 765 and 6779. Some of you may be familiar with this particular locomotive as it was outshopped in Pusan by members of the 765th Railway Shop Battalion and renumbered to honor the unit. Our museum plans to honor members of the Military Railway Service who served in Korea with an exhibit detailing the experiences of soldiers serving in the MRS as well as a complete history of this particular Pershing locomotive. If anybody has knowledge of this locomotive or served with the 765th and helped restore the locomotive, I'd be very interested in hearing from you. Any type of information relating to its history or the history of the unit and members is welcome as well as any photographs and documents. Please feel free to contact me either by telephone or via e-mail. Thank you to all of you who served, and know that you are not forgotten.
