Comments: My dad, Charles W. Cook was in the 573rd Engineering Pontoon Bridge Company in Korea. His nickname was Mush. I am not sure what he did in the unit as he would never talk about Korea. I believe that he might have been in the motor pool because on a subsequent enlistment in the U.S. he was listed as a 1014 Wh Veh Mech. His rank on discharge is listed as Cpl(T). I would be interested in hearing from anyone who might have known him or anyone who might have general information on what the unit did and where in Korea they were stationed. Thank you for your help.

Comments: Served as officer in two units of the 338th Gp: 573rd
and Co B of the 148th Bn during 1955 -56 supporting the
11th and 101st Div at Ft Campbell, Ky.
Have some pics of bridge operations and 1955 year book
of the 338th Group. The 55th Bridge Co was also in
this group then. The 338th Gp became the 937th Engr Gp
Combat, in about mid 1956, and the 11th Div became the
101st Airborne Div. The OD uniform and Ike jacket went
out and the Army green uniform and black shoes came in.
We built landing strips, roads, docks, drop zones for
airborne operations, and used our bridge boats for
flood rescue on the Cumberland River and drown victims
on Kentucky Lake.

Comments: Hi, I am restoring a 1945 GMC CCKW 353 Ponton truck with its sliding pole trailer and aluminium pontoon boat and would like to know what the "extra" bits, ie non standard on CCKW cargo trucks, were used for. Was it possible to load the pontoon using just the Jimmy, or was a crane always required?
Any photos or info of these trucks in use would be of great interest to me!
Many thanks,
Mark Rimmer

Comments: Anyone in this unit who witnessed the crash of a jet and a helicopter close to our company area between 1967 and 1968. It is important to an appeal for PTSD that is pending for me in the Appeals management center, Washington. This claim has been going on since 1994. They can find no record of the crash. No surprise. If someone witnessed it I need your help to verify that it happened.
Please respond to: (caws617522@earthlink.net) or (caws61@myembarq.com). I need your help.
Thank you,

Comments: Looking for any stories, information and people who knew of my grandfather. My mother is one of his 7 daughters, 4 of which moved to Australia in 1959, + one adopted. The rest live in Oregon and California USA, my mother is desperate to know of her father, as she didn't get a chance on growing up. Her and her sisters thought he'd died in the war, but he lived with his new wife and daughters in Grants Pass Oregon, adopting one of the 3 girls out. He has now passed on, so any further information would be appreciated. Thank you.
