Comments: I also have documented comments by Cpl Murphy's brother, PJ Murphy who in 1952 was given permission by General Wridgeway to visit UNMC and identify his brother.
If you could respond with an email address I would like to forward this document for your reference which may assist with my enquiry.
Phillip O'Brien OSD-DPMO, Col. Louis T Dechert and Dr Alec Christensen CIL Hawaii can verify my bona fides which relate to the possible investigation, recovery and ultimate identification or closure in matters concerning 43 Australian servicemen mia in the Korean War.
Kamsa hamnida and kind regards Ian Saunders
Keywords: please refer to www.koreanwarmemorial.com.au/ then Home link - Korean mias which refers to our Australian mias including Cpl William Murphy 24 April 1951 who may hve been interred in a mass grave in 1952. I am of the belief that US military created UNMC and therefore may have documents referring to Cpl Murphy remains.

Comments: THE THREE MEN ON OPERATION GLORY (DISINTERMENT) AND LATER IN THE FROZEN MOUNTAINS OF SUBUCKSAN SEARCHING FOR REMAINS THRU THE WINTER OF 54. THEY CLAIMED TO BE FROM THE OZARKS,AND HAD THEIR GREATGRANDFATHERS CONFEDERATE JACKETS FROM CIVIL WAR WITH THEM.THEIR PICTURES ARE ON THE KOREAN WALL IN WASH., D.C. ON THE MALL, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW HOW THEY FARED IN LIFE,VERY GOOD I HOPE. WE SERVED TOGETHER FOR ONE YEAR, THEN I WAS SENT TO KING CO., 34TH. INF REGT, 24TH. INF DIV.NORTH OF THE IMJIM RIVER IN THE BUNKERS--WHERE SOMEONE FORGOT TO TELL THE GOOKS WE HAD A (PEACE TREATY????)WE STILL HAD DEAD AND THE C.I.B. WAS STILL GIVEN OUT. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW IF "EARL STRAUB" ( ONE OF 5 NAMES I CAN STILL REMEMBER) IS STILL ALIVE . HE HAD BENN WITH THE GERMAN YOUTH MOVEMENT IN WW11 AND WAS CAPTURED--AND WAS SERVING HIS TOUR IN THE ARMY TO GET HIS CITIZANSHIP.,ONE OF THE FEW THAT WOULD BEFRIEND ME---- SINCE I WAS A MORTUARY AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, AND IT MADE MANY NERVOUS--SPECIALLY WHEN THE SHOOTING WOULD START AT NITE.PASSWORDS AND COUNTERSIGNS WOULD CHANGE EVERY NITE---EXCEPT ONE STAYED CONSTANT FOR THE CHAIN OF COMMAND---( CODE YELLOW-BRAMBLEBUSH) DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THAT ONE AND WHAT IT MEANT?. BY THE WAY DATES ARE WRONG WHEN WE STARTED "OPERATION GLORY" IT WAS IN THE 2ND WEEK OF MAY 54 ON THE P.O.W. SLANT HILL IN PUSAN--ONE OF THE OZARK GUYS AND MY SELF TOOK THE FIRST ONE UP AND WRAPPED IT IN A THICK PAPER AND TIED IT WITH CORD, WHICH KEPT BREAKING. (PHOTOS IN NAT. ARCHIVES,GREENBELT, MD.) MY HANDWRITING ON PAPER IN BLACK GREAS PENCIL. THERE WAS ABOUT 25 JOURNALIST PHOTOG. AROUND WHICH GREW TO ABOUT 100 THRU THE HOT MONTHS, BUT M.P.'S CAME UP TO KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE BODIES AND REMAINS. I HAVE COPY'S OF ALL THIS . LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU, BOB KING
