Comments: Original reaquest for information was submitted 7/2003. My Dad, Alton M. Murphy (S/N 396219 USMCR), was part of MAG-33 at Kempo Afld, 50-51. Exact dates unknown. Records request to NPRC produced some information, but left a lot of blanks/questions, as data was terribly insufficient. If anyone remembers him, I would greatly appreciate being contacted so I can have some idea of what he did during the war. He passed away 4 Nov 79. Also, he participated in the Guadalcanal campaign during WW2. A light machine gunner I believe. Was also an Assistant squad leader at that time. Again, any information would be greatly appreciated as he never talked about anything that happened then. Thanks.

Sir,
My name is Chris LAURENT, I work in Wallis island (Samoa area - South Pacific) for 10 years and love this place.
I created an association called Uvea Museum Association few months ago. Our goal is to open a museum about US occupation during Pacific War.
I know that MAG 31 was here during WW2. Could you tell me more about that time in Wallis. Do you know some people who could share this time with us or have some pictures ?
I've attended the last reunion of 8th AAA in Washington DC august 4th who were in Wallis from may 26 1942 to april 1946. I went there to get contacts and answer any questions marines may have and tell them that some people still think about their coming.
Don't hesitate to ask me any question you may have.
