Comments: My father was an asst. platoon commander and platoon commander for the Support Co. of the 1st Sevice Battalion, 1st Marine Division from Nov. of 1951 to July of 1952. His name is John R. Greenstone, and I believe he would have been either a 1st Lt. or a Capt. at the time. I know he was promoted to Capt. at some time in 1952. If you remember him, could you please write? He eventually retired as a Lt. Col in 1975. He passed away in Nov. of 2002. Thanks.

Comments: Well, I never had the opportunity - unfortunately - to meet TSGT Herman C. Kahl, Jr. as he died in Korea in 1953. Herman was my Mother's brother and from the stories I heard growing up, he was a special guy. A good son, a good brother and a good friend. He died at only 22 yet he was already a TSGT! Moreover, according to my family, Herman, whom we called "Junie" actually re-enlisted after completing his first tour of duty when he died. Can you imagine the impact of the loss? Herman's death was a result - from what I was told - of his jeep running over a mine. Is there anyone out there who knew Herman? If it's not too much trouble, would you please e-mail me or respond via the korean war project's site. Thank you. Ed Negron. Semper Fi!
