Comments: I am seeking information on the 7th RCT. I was assigned to Hq/Hq 1st Marine Division at Hungnam. Word was spread that volunteers were needed up north. I volunteered and was reassigned to the force at Hagaru.I was a PFC at the time with 2 1/2 years in the Corps.

I left for Hagaru on the 24th of November via truck convoy. I have always thought that we were still Hq/Hq personnel. I was an ammo humper on light 30 machine guns. My MOS at the time was 0331.

While reading "Breakout", and other books on Chosin, I found it interesting that others in my group were listed as 7th RCT. Major Fredrick Simpson, Lt. Charles Sullivan, M/Sgt McClung, and others. Since I was a PFC we were not well informed. Can anyone reading this set me straight.

Thanks and Semper Fi.

Comments: During the Korean war years 1951-1952 I corresponded with man of our fighting men.

Several were in the 1st. Marine division. After a few letters I stopped hearing from man of them. I have often wondered about them. Last Oct. I visited the beautiful Korean War Memorial in Wash.D.C, and wept harder than ever before in m life, because I don't know what happened to all of my friends. Unfortunately, I have lost their letters, including one signed by a long list of men saying I had been voted Miss 1st Marine
Division of Korea. I remember two names; Tom Short, Paul Stevens. I would love to hear from, or about these two pen-pals from so long ago. I am no longer Alope-Toni Harding. I am an old lady known as Toni Isaac, nor am I the pretty, curvacious gal of those days, but I am the same caring peron. A long-lost pen-pal of Tom Short and Paul Steven, who would like to hear from them, or their families. Thank you.

Unit: 65TH RCT

Comments: Hello, any marines who participated during Hungnam in December 1950: The 65th RCT, attch'd to the US 3rd Div, was dispatched hurriedly to the area, albeit understrength. Their mission was to cover a sector on adjoining mountains in order to keep chinese attacks at bay, which came every night. In particular, the 65th 2nd Bn duty was to be the rear guard as troops moved south toward Hamhung, and eventually Hungnam. This unit was an all Puerto Rican RCT and little is written about them. They fended off repeated chinese attacks to aide the marines as they moved southward. Does anyone out there know of this unit? Some 65th soldiers remember the bravery of the marines as they moved south, carrying out there dead, strapped to jeeps. Many of the 65th men died as well, most froze in -40F up on the hills just like everyone else. If anyone can provide me some info. on this unit I would be very grateful.
