Comments: I worked in the HQ AAVS Orderly Room from 1974 to
1977 upon return from U-Tapao RTNB Thailand. I was
the one who assigned the troops to Staff Duty Officer
Mondays through Sunday (they groused, but most could
be depended on). I also ran the Awards and Decs
Program for the Squadron. Lt Col McKeithan was the
Squadron Section Commander and SMS Fred Quinby was
the First Shirt. Enjoyed my time at AAVS especially
when the cast of Star Trek (minus Shatner) came by
for a visit. Also, the Area Two Chow Hall had the
BEST food on base. Miss ole Norton and San Berdoo.
I went into the CA ANG in 1981 and initially flew
with the old 146th AES out of Van Nuys (now out of
Channel Islands). Got a commission in the ANG and
retired in 1993. Now reside in my hometown,
Washington, DC. HQ AAVS was a great place to work!

Sorry, I left the Air Force and 1365th in April of 1965. I imagine most of the men I served with are long gone or retired as well. Some years ago, I did come across MSGT Mac. He was at Norton AFB, CA as civilian head of critique. Also, met up with a Puerto Rican we had in our Orlando lab. He was working for Newsfilm Labs in Hollywood...can't think of his name, now.

By the way, I am looking for a 1365th Photo Squadron patch. Would you have one to spare. My nephews obsconded with mine some years ago.

Worked outside AFSC routinely so no points and slow rank but small price for what we got to do on special orders. Me?I was assigned jobs like covering covering Air Force times jobs in Japan. Then there was the "Embassy Flight" through Far East to Dahran Saudi-Arabia. Saddest time in Tokyo was photographing French survivers of Dien Bien Phu going out in hospital C97s. I served in Korat Thailand in 74-75, working with AFTN, then at HQ AAVS from 75 through 77 when I left active duty. I was a reservist with the 1352d at Norton, then activated for Desert Storm to be Ops Officer of the 1365th at Lackland. Then AFRES kept me on pretty much continuous active duty helping stand up their reserve COMCAM mission, while simultaneously I was IMA to the DO of 2CTCS (1352nd) until it shut down, then I was IMA to the CC of 1CTCS (1365th). I served in Bosnia in 96 as Joint COMCAM team chief, and retired in 98.

Keywords: I am so grateful to see that we Korean Vets are going to come together. I served from 9/9/50 t0
6/9/1957. But for the Grace of God, there go I, and I ended up in France and Germany 1953-1954. Does that make me any less a KOREAN Vet????
One of the units of our 1350 Photo Group did draw the Korean Assignment, but I don't think one sqdn ever kept in touch with the others.Let's try to find them.
