Less its group and two squadrons detached for combat in Korea, the wing continued its air defense mission until 1 December. It then moved without personnel and equipment (on paper) to Yonpo, North Korea, assuming the resources of the inactivated 6150th Tactical Support Wing. Almost immediately the 35th FIW moved again to Pusan AB, South Korea. On May 25, 1951, it moved without personnel and equipment to Johnson AB, Japan, to resume an air defense mission.

Stations

Yonpo, North Korea, December 1, 1950; Pusan AB, South Korea, c. December 7, 1950-May 25, 1951.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who knew 2Lt Wayne Rabun. I learned his name for the first time yesterday. He was the pilot of a P-51 Mustang that, during an airstrike envolving a flight of Mustangs, collided with an Army L-17 near Haeju, North Korea 16 Oct 50. The accident was fatal for all. Lt Rabun's unit was the 35th Fighter-Intercept Wing 8th Fighter-Bomber Sq. My Father, 1st Lt John B. Stanton, 24th Inf was the pilot of the L-17. My family recalls a letter from the Family of the Mustang pilot over 50 years ago. The letter is gone and the name(s) were all lost long ago. If anyone can help I'd be too grateful. Eventually I will find this family. I want to wish them well and see how their lives turned out. There is much much more to all this. My Father earned the Silver Star just before he was killed in Combat. I want to see that he gets his Silver Star.

Comments: I was at the Correction Center when it went from
a stockade to A Correction Center.
We took down some of the high wire fence's and
started a retraining program.
Capt. Whetstone was the first CO for the Correction Center.
If any one was stationed with me I would like to
hear from them.
M.Sgt. Yoakum was the NCO in charge when the Correction Center first opened.
He shiped out a short time later.
