Comments: I acquired a Luxembourg FN49 rifle recently and its stock is painted dark olive green with A company stenciled in red on one side and a red 10 near handguard. It’s also stenciled in white on other side of buttstock NAT I 475-11th. I am curious if anyone has any information on this rifle and where it might have been. The only thing I gather from any of the stenciled letters is the A Company the rest of I am unsure of. Thank you

Comments: When my dad died in 1986, after a lifelong service in the Belgian Army, I received all his medals, decorations and his brown hat with the korea emblem. He served in WW2, Korea and Congo in the 60's and then ended up in Germany at the British NATO HQ around Rheydt/Monchen-Gladbach. I am looking for anyone who would be able to give me some information or maybe even photos of him during his time in Korea.
I would so love to put his history together from joining the resistance when he was 14 to his death in 1986 as an adjudant of the belgian army.

Appeal to the Korean War Veterans and their families
In the early fifties a bloody war was fought on the Korean Peninsula between the North and the South. North Korea was aided by Chinese Volunteers, South Korea received help from a large international force sent by the United Nations. Belgium assisted with one battalion of well trained volunteers. More than 3,000 Belgians left for Korea. Over one hundred lost their lives.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the departure of our troops to Korea, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and of Military History plans a temporary exhibition, autumn/winter 2010, on the BUNC (Belgian United Nations Command). Our collection is incomplete and therefore we are searching for of uniforms, equipment, weapons, photographs and all kinds of memorabilia from this forgotten war.
We sincerely hope you can help us! We are looking at the Korean War in all its aspects. From the ill fitting British style helmet used during training, to the United Nations Service Medal, which was presented to all veterans upon their return. Maybe there is a forgotten box full of memories which could be of use to the museum and ?
Next to the physical history we are also looking for stories. Stories on the war in Korea, but also stories of the training, the journey and the return. Not only the important facts, but also the chit- chat and the personal memories. Where you there? Contact us and make sure your story is told!
Help us not to forget the Forgotten War!

Dear Ted
Towards the end of next month(June) I plan to visit Korea in rememberance of the departure of the last contigent of the Belgian Batallion which departed Korea in June 1955.
I am going to rent a vehicle and retrace all the places we had our camps and take pictures and video's of those places to show how they look like now. This will take me to Seoul. Yong-Chon. Pochon, Pango-ri, Unchon-ni, Chorwon and kumwha, and perhaps the "White Horse mountain" if allowed
I was there last in 1967 with Mlle Gailly pointing out the general area where her brother Captain Gailly had fallen.
If there are any Belgian Vets reading this and are interested in joining me (Room for 4 in a car) get in touch with me right away at "debruyckered@yahoo.com.

Comments: My father, Louis-Jean Noens, served in the Volunteer Corp Korea. In 1955 he moved to the United States. He was always proud to be a "Belgian Soldier". If anyone knew him, I would greatly appreciate any information. The only things he ever mentioned regarding Korea was how cold it was, and how hard the ground was. He died in 1994, and is greatly missed.
Thank you.
