Comments: All - I was in Maine recently, visiting family. I made a point this time (since I am getting no younger) to spend time sifting through my Dad's stuff from both Germany (WW2) and Korea. I have posted on here before. He was captured and a POW in Camp 1. One thing that I found was his address book of "Boys I met in POW Camp , Changsong". As you can imagine, it is primitive and worn. Yet, There are 100 or so names (and partial addresses) of soldiers who my Dad (SFC Joseph A Bourgoin) served with. My dad would have been 95. So, chances of many of these names still being around are slim - but maybe!!!!! And, maybe next of kin could see their father/grandfather's name here. Please let me know if any of you are still out there - actual person, or descendent. Also, I have these names in a database and would be happy to keep this list updated in case of errors, misspells, etc. Here are the names and partial addresses he had:

He returned home and went on to live a long life until his death in 2000. He spoke of the torture, starvation, and injuries. He spoke of him having to translate propaganda for the Chinese. He lost his toes and fingertips to frostbite. He was starved nearly to death and came home a shell of a man. Anyone who remembers him, or has pictures of that time. Please email me. Thank you. Comments: Does anyone remember Charles Haines from Westminster, Maryland? He would have been around 18 year old in 1950. He was either in the army or a marine. He would have been in the Korean War either from June 1950-March 1951 or August 1951-January 1953. Sorry I don't have a lot of information to go from. He never spoke to my family much about his time except that he was a POW. He always said him and one other solider escaped by killing a guard but not sure if this is correct. He recently passed in October of 2016. The curiosity is getting the best of me and I just want to know more!

He was a master sergeant and was a Light weapons assault crewman or light weapons infantry leader. He was part of company F in the 35th infantry 25th division. He went missing near the village of Anju, Chongchon River battle zone. I believe he was brought to this prison camp, #1. I don't know if he could have made it out because someone said they saw him in1952 in great health. Though many have reported him in poor condition in this prison camp.

Comments: My husband and I are researching his uncle JAMES FORD HANCOCK (Jim) who was a POW in Camp 1 Ch'ang-Song, North Korea from Feb 13, 1951 to Aug 16, 1953. He passed away in 1991.
He also served in WWII. He signed up 3 months after his 18th birthday.
Jim was from Southwest Virginia.
We are interested in any photographs, stories, memories. He had a lot of problems when he came home and we don't know much about what he was like before he had this experience. The people who knew him back then have passed away so we only have a few family stories and a couple of photographs to remember him by. We would also like to know what happened to him in the camp so we can better understand him.
Thank you so much and good luck with your searches,

Comments: I am writing to gather some information about my Uncle SGT Richard Dick Desautels. He would have been a Corporal at/during his interment as a Prisoner of War from December 1, 1950 to his death per the Chinese government on September 29, 1953. Some accounts say he died sometime in April, 1953.
The information I specifically am trying to ascertain is if he was take to Mukden for medical care related to a wound to his knee area at the time of his capture during the retreat from Kujang to Kuni-ri then to Sun chon. He was captured at or near Kuni-ri. He spent time in Camp 1 and Camp 5. He drove and repaired trucks. He drove trucks to/from Camp 1 and Camp 5. He learned and spoke some Chinese. It has been reported he translated the guards conversations to the other prisoners. It has been further reported he translated broadcasts to the prisoners as well.
I would appreciate any information good, bad or otherwise of any POW that might have had any conversations with Dick of any kind. Particularly if they might be able to confirm the he had been sent to Mukden (now Shenyang). Perhaps a person might have heard some of what he saw there?

Comments: I am writing today to share some wonderful news and to ask that that you share this with your colleagues and neighbors.
After a very long 65 years, Sergeant Floyd JR Jackson is coming home from the Korean War. Sergeant Jackson served his country with honor in Korea as an Infantryman in the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was captured on December 12, 1950 and died at Camp One on the Yalu River on February 3, 1951. His remains were not identified until December 2013. Upon positive confirmation of the identity of his remains, his niece, Joanna Mueller of Bailey, asked that he be brought home to be buried next to his family at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery in Centennial.
Sergeant Jackson was posthumously awarded the Prisoner of War Medal, his Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Purple Heart.
The family asked that we reach out to local veterans organizations, civic, and fraternal groups to inform the public of this event and encourage your attendance and participation in this event. If you or your members are interested in attending this graveside, full US Army Honors burial, please give us a call at (303) 771-3960 to let us know how many might be attending.

Comments: I was an Army brat, Army wife, Army widow, and am now an Air Force Retired wife, and I do not take the sacrifices that the men and women (and the family members) of our Armed Forces make lightly. I attended an estate sale in my neighborhood, and found Lt. Coke's decorations for sale by the piece. I purchased the lot, and have hung them in the family room next to my husband's, who is most humbly grateful to share his wall space with Lt. Coke. I just wanted to post a remembrance at this site. Lt.Coke died at Prison Camp 1, but was re-buried at Ft. Sam Houston under Operation Glory. My parents and first husband are also at rest there, and my life has been free because of the thousands more who bear silent watch with them.

Comments: I am looking for Sgt. Robert J. Coffey or his family. I am in possession of a
green book with writing on the outside that is either Korean or Chinese.
This book was given to my mother Jacque Miller for safe keeping after his
capture. It is a diary and has pictures inside of it of his family that were
sent to him while he was held prisoner. I am just looking to reunite this
book with Robert, or to return it to his family.
Thanks,
Robert
