Comments: My Uncle Jim was declared a POW after becoming MIA
after capture while in the Republic Of Korea. They
believe he was captured on February 13, 1951 and taken
to the Suan Bean Camp. He was in the United States
Army HQ Co, 3rd BN, 38th INF and we were hoping that
maybe someone on this website may know something about
what happened to him. According to the reports his
remains were found with Capt Melvin R. Stai, Pfc James
N. Sund, and Pvt Floyd T. Coker. They believe the men
were killed in an U.S. air raid of the camp between
April 15 - 22 1951. There are reports from the Army
stating that three men reported seeing him alive before
the raid and never seeing him afterwards. If anyone
has any information on John L. Tyler, Robert D. Bishop,
or Billy J. Harris (all in the same unit as Jim) could
someone please contact us. We are bringing him home to
be buried in August and I would love to speak with you
before hand. Thank you so much for your time and
service. And, if your reading this with a family
member still missing please keep hope!

Comments: My Uncle was with the 25th Infantry Division and was taken prisoner of war on Jan. 4, 1951 near Seoul. He was taken to the Bean Camp near Suan and reported by fellow POW's to have died from illness. His siblings and many relatives are living in the Minnesota area. His brother and nephew farm the land near Braham where Ralph was born and grew up. If you have any information that would be helpful to the family or know anyone who was in the Bean Camp, we would be interested in talking to or meeting with them. We met with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command at Hickam AFB and they are still working on identifying remains.
Sincerely,
The Carlson Family

Comments: I am looking for information regarding my uncle John Harvey Holman of Minnesota/Iowa; we have information that he was captured Feb. 12, 1951 near Hoengsong and died while captured possibly from dysentary in the Bean/Suan Camp around April 30, 1951. John was in the 38th Inf. Regiment, 2nd Inf. Division, D Company and was a Sargent First Class (although this may have been assinged to him after he died). His widow, Loraine, has a letter from George Matta dated 1954 stating that John died while in camp. My father did provide DNA and was told a match was made but we are still waiting for details. Thanks.
