Comments: I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ON MY FATHER. THE CAMP HE WAS IN, HOW LONG HE WAS THERE, HIS UNIT, ECT.... MY DAD NEVER WOULD TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. I HEARD THAT HE HAD UNDER GONE SOME FORM OF MEDICAL EXPERIMENTS AND WEIGHED ONLY 98LBS. WHEN HE WAS RELEASED. HE ALSO HAD TB, WHICH I CONTRACTED AS A CHILD (FROM HIM I PRESUME). HE DIDN'T RECEIVE HIS POW MEDAL UNTIL A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE HE DIED. IF ANYONE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT FOR ME I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT. THANKS (A DAUGHTER WHO LOVED AND STILL LOVES HER DADDY VERY MUCH)

Comments: I am trying to find my grandfather, who I know was a prisoner of war. All I know was that he fought in the Korean war, he and I lost touch when I was 16, he could pull his lip way up over his face and he had the worlds smallest pitcher.
I am trying to regain contact with him, and this seemed like a possible route to find out where he is living.
Thanks,
Carlene K. Jelovchan

Comments: I don't know specifics. I entered this site because I know a Veteran that was a POW and he tells me incredible stories. His name is Joe Bailey.
He tells one incredible story of two young Korean boys who stopped to feed him. The young boys made him some soup. The two boys were killed in front of him. He believes that those two boys might still be alive today if they wouldn't of stopped to feed him. He still has nightmares.

I know he was treated at a VA hospital in Illinois (Waukegan?) for a number of years, so possibly sought treatment at a VA hospital in Florida.

Comments: I am referring specifically to the fear of communism and of "brainwashing" that was so prevalent in the years during and following the war. I would like to know if the regular enlisted man was stigmitized by his contact with an enemy that represented such a vast and unknown evil. I was born in 1954 and want this information for a work of fiction. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who would like to share their experience regarding this matter.
Keywords: I am interested in hearing from any veteran who feels there was a fundamental change in perception, at the top echelons of the military and of the government, toward the enlisted men of the Korean War, particularly POW'S, following the end of that conflict.

Comments: I am trying to find information regarding the "21" POWs sent to China about. The official story from the military was the POWs chose to stay in China. My dad, Arlie Pate, was one of the "21". He never spoke of his ordeal, however, we believe he was subjected to an experimental project on brainwashing for 4 years. The military has refused to comment on this subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
