I have the 48 star flag, shown in with his picture, that was presented to Oscar's mother, Laura Mark, and will pass it on to family.
When he comes home, we will lay him to rest in the National cemetery in Mims, FL, along with his nephew, James H. Gann.
Peace be with the family of all those who are still waiting.

Any data I can get on what ships he served on, where he was injured and what battle, and anything about his service would be of great help. He was a beloved father and grandfather and we would like to piece this together since he has passed and can no longer tell us.

Comments: Hello, I was hoping to find any Navy Corpsman that served with George Company 3rdBattalion, 7 Regiment, 1st Marine Division that knew Robert Serrano in 1951. I was able to get in contact with Marines who served with George Company which were of great help in helping me understand aspects of what happened on September 12, 1951 when Mr. Serrano who passed away in 2007 was cited for his actions and was awarded the Navy Cross. I received information on some Navy Corpsman, who served with George, but, unfortunately, most have passed away and the rest I could not locate.
I was hoping that if any survivors attached to George Company are still living and you witnessed the incident documented in his citation that can be googled or treated him after he reached the aid station if you could contact me. There are also two pictures of him during the Korean War period that can be looked at
http://projects.militarytimes.com/citations-medals-awards/recipient.php?recipientid=5652
or http://dmc.tamuc.edu/cdm/fullbrowser/collection/awe-korea/id/363/rv/singleitem/rec/4
if the name sounds familiar and you want to see if it is the same person.
I was only able to find one Marine, who was attached to 1st Squad of the 1st Platoon. So I know the difficulty in finding people but I hope that maybe there is at least Navy Corpsman out there that can help.
I am helping his family, and there is evidence that suggests that there should be another review of his case due to mistakes in the paperwork for his Navy Cross Citation which can result in a review for a Medal Of Honor. My research for his family shows that Department Of The Navy has only upgraded one Navy Cross to a Medal Of Honor in its history. Both the Department Of The Army And Air Force have awarded an upgrade through reviews more than once in its history.
The only individual who received an upgrade was in 1980 was Anthony Casamento a veteran of WWII. This came after evidence had been ignored for years according to an article by Bruce Drake, entitled Medal of Honor: Anthony Casamento Continues His Long Battle For The Award. The article was printed in the New York Daily News on Dec 22,1978
The following is an excerpt
In 1964, a Navy Board of Decorations recommended that Casamento get the coveted medal but, in the following year, ranking Navy officials reversed the decision because they said it would set a bad precedent to award the medal after so long a period of time.
So it is very important if there are any Corpsman out there who saw the incident or saw the aftermath if they would be willing to contact me.

Everett was a hospital corpman assigned to I Company with the 1st Marine Division during it's withdrawal from the Chosin Reservoir. Everett doesn't speak about his experiences very much, but I do remember him telling me that when he first reported to his unit that he was told that he wouldn't last very long because of his height 6'5. Everett is very proud of his service and he would love to hear from anyone whom he may have known during his time in Korea or who served with him at anytime. Everett went on to service with the submarine Navy until his retirement in March 1978. His last duty station was Chief of Security at Balboa Naval Hospital, San Diego Ca. Comments: Looking for any information on my Father, Harold Pendley, USN Corpsman, stationed with Marines, at Frozen Chosin. Served two tours, from January 8, 1951 until july 7, 1953. Would like to know if any one could describe tattoo "adopted" by or designating Corpsman who served with Marine Corps Units at the Chosin Reservoir. Any info greatly appreciated.
