I am working on a historical exhibit of pictures from Okinawa from
the years 1951-1952. My professor and I are trying to make an oral
history narrative to go with the pictures and would really like to

Keywords: I still have quite a few photos of Ichi Banare (Ike
Shima), and the Loran station. I served 13 months
there from 51 to Aug 52 before extending and getting
transfered to Miho, and then Pusan. I really have
some fond memories of that place and the crew and all
the pranks and liberties we pulled. I never met any
of those that were there, but I did take a trip to
Okinawa in the 80's and went out to the island and
visited with the couple (Gensuke Kanashiro) who owned
the "hotel" where we had many a sojourn. The station
has been replaced by a large resort hotel. There is a
connecting road tha runs from Okinawa, thrught the
two other adjoining Islands and connects to Ike
Shima. I did one 4 more years, then gave it up for an
Air Force Career and retired.
