I am the daughter of a Korean War vet, Matt M. Davis III, USMC D/2/7.
12 years ago, I located a bunch of men from his company, using 1950
addresses. They now have a reunion each year.

My dad is a Chosin Reservoir veteran, and he belongs to the Chosin Few
(I've also attended a few of those meetings.)

Let me know how I could be of help. My dad has a lot of the old 1st
Marine Division Assn. newsletters, as well as almost all the Chosin

Texas (i.e., I could potentially contact quite a number of people.)

I don't have much experience in html or programming, but I do have

Re: Robert Alfred Mallett

You show him to killed - in - action Oct 53. when it should be
missing - in - action (MIA) November 28th, 1950, (presumably
later listed as KIA.) Allow me to also point out that the war ended
July 1953.

I know these to be the facts as I was in the same campaign, although
I was in a different Regiment. I was injured in the campaign and sent
home and while at home (December 1950) his mother contacted me
and said he had been reported missing as of November 28. In addition
I spoke to another Marine who indicated he had discovered Mallett
severely wounded and had placed him in his vehicle only to have him die
a short time later at which time he removed him from the vehicle and
placed Mallett alongside the road.

I cannot confirm this story. However, if true, evidently his body was
not recovered as he was officially reported as missing in action.

Yours sincerely,

Victor A.R. Stevens

---note from KWP---

the date of casualty or death for most MIA's became late 1953 or up til
1957. Many of the bodies in combat had tags removed when it was next
to impossible to evacuate, thus creating a high probability of not
being identified. Mass graves still exist in North Korea today.

Note: the war has never been declared over, in fact is a hostile zone
taking casualties on a regular basis. - ed

He passed away 10/4/92 and I am trying to re-create as accurately as
possible his activities in Korea. I have a South Korean flag signed by

men who signed this flag I would really appreciate it..

More:

I did something I had never thought of today and looked in the phone
listings on the net. I have contacted 3 people today who signed the flag.
William C. Marker, Billy DeVasher, and John O. Henry.

It seems that all the marines who signed the flag were from Weapons

(per John O. Henry).

It also appears that most of these men still live in Tenn. They had a

My uncle was killed in Korea on Dec 8, 1950. He was with the first
Marine Div. I don't know where he was killed or how. All his family is
gone including his brother a Marine also (Iwo Jima), there is no one
left to ask.

I'm looking for his company, then I could possibly tell the location of
his death and the nature of the hostilities at that time.

His name is PFC Robert Harry Schmidt, 1094272,

Any information you have or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I would like any information on members in the first squad, first
platoon, Fox Co., 7th Marines, on the night of July 6/7, 1953, when
outpost East Berlin was overran by Chinese.

Especially Private Richards, of Brooklyn, NY., the other BARman. I
was the other BARman, 18 years old and from Dallas, Texas. Richards
and I were captured. Last saw Richards in Seriwan, POW hospital,
camp 6, and have not been able to locate him since through the American
EX-POW's.

Any of the other's I would sincerely like to know why? And if any
survived trying to retake the hill. I still have much difficulty of
not knowing why Richards and I were left alone to defend it. It would be
a much appreciated healing process just to know why.

My step-father was in the Korean War. I read some of the letters
that people E-Mailed you about a certain relative that was in the
Korean War and how hard it is for them to discuss. Well, you can add
my step-father to the list.

He said that there was a guy that was injured during the War that he
helped. And he said he would know his name if he saw it. Here's the
information about John L. Stewart:

1st Marine Division 7th Regiment 2nd Battalion "F" Company 3rd Squad

If you have the names of some of the OTHER men that were in that SAME
group, he MIGHT recognize some of the names...not to mention his OWN!!

Thanks!
