I am confused as to why I cannot find data on my father. I have been
active in Korean Cold War research into my fathers fate and the data
was entered into the computer when I was in D.C. for the dedication
of the Memorial to include a picture.

But, perhaps due to my illiteracy with different computer systems, I am
not doing something to pull it up. Capt. James Doyle Marshall, USAF,
Reserve, AO0674601.

Home of record on the casualty record is Inglewood, Los Angeles
County, CA., Date of casualty-09-19-51-and is listed as aircraft
accident in the Sea of Japan. DOB-06-15-20, causcasian, male,
attached to the 343d Bomb Sq., 98th Bomb Wing, (ADVON) APO
328, c/o PM, SanFrancisco, CA- TDY fr: Fairchild AFB, Washington.

He was a pilot, but was flying electronic counter measures this
mission. Was terminiated from MIA on 25July52 when changed status
to dead.

Thank-you

I have a page of Sept 1-30 from Yokota that lists his B-29 going down
with all 14 MIA - but does not list the names. I have them from a
casualty report. Some of the earliest correspondence after the
crash is from the HQ 92D Air Base Group from Fairchild, WA. Do you
think he is listed there? And if so- can I place a looking for in the
92D Air Base Group also?

I flew a combat tour in B-29s as a radar operator. I was with the 343d
Bomb Sqdn, 98th Bomb Wing, stationed at Yokota Base in Japan.

I went over as a replacement VO and flew missions with 2 aircraft
commanders: Vanatta and Felker. My duties included making bomb runs
with Shoran equipment, which was more accurate than the vaunted Norden
bombsight.

Went on first mission in January 1953 and rotated back to the states on
July 27, 1953, the same day the cease fire began!
