I was there the day it started.Flying a Mats C-54, we landed at Seoul.
The Commies strafed the base and our aircraft was the first US airplane
lost in the Korean War, Aircraft # 5521.

We were only in support but we had at least three flights per day into
Korea , at or near, the combat zone.We evacuated personnel and equipment
out of Seoul in the early days . Pulled the Marines and Army out of
Pyongyang, Hamhung, Hungnam and Teague at critical times.

There is an outside chance that the 1273rd was on TDY to Tokyo from
Hickham before the Seoul Invasion .

It was my understanding at the time that our mission was to Ferry
Personnel and supplies to Korea . June 25th we had ten passengers, mail
and a "LOAD" of practice hand grenades .
