U.S.S. Boxer

VF-721 was a US Navy Reserve unit based at NAS Glenview, IL, that
was called up to serve in the summer of 1950. After transitioning to
the new F9F-2 Panther jets, the unit was assigned to the U.S.S. Boxer.

The squadron was off the coast of Korea for a year, supporting ground
troops fighting the Communist forces. They flew many sorties and
destroyed countless trucks, locomotives and rail cars, bridges,
buildings and enemy armor, as well as attacking troop concentrations.
