Is there any place I can go to find out what happened to earn him the bronze? The ribbon that I have has the same markings as the ones shown in photo id's of the different awards. I have my Dad's discharge papers He was John Albert Barber, with the 5th Army Area, ERC ORD Corps, and his service length was 1 may 1951 through 20 jan 1953 with 10 months and 1 day in foreign service. It lists his most significat duty assignment as 69th ORD Ammo Co APO 301. Decorations listed is the Korean Service Medal w/1 bronze service star and the United Nations service medal. It was something about an ammo dump that suddenly became behind enemy lines. He told me he was a "telephone" lineman and was up on a pole stretching wire with a snipper started shooting he picked up his spikes and slid (splinters and all) down the pole. Mom said that the splinters were so bad and located just right that they didn't know if he could still have kids. He didn't get a purple heart and I think it always dissapointed him Thanks Rebecca Barber
