3rd Engineers

I'd like to know more about this "Korean War Project" page. My dad
served as a combat engineer of the 3rd Eng. batallion, 24th Infantry US
Army and was wounded in action (Purple heart and all that). So I have
some interest in observing things.

My Father belonged to this in Korea. He is very interested in
contacting fellow G.I.'s that served under the subject described.

Is there any info. pertaining to this special group? Or is there a
special place on the Net, that I may find this? Your reply would be
extreamly appreciated.

thank you!

I am a retired Msgt. USAF. I am also a family genealogist and
currently writing my memoirs to pass on to my grandchildren. I am
looking for anyone who may have been with or near my best friend
when he got killed in Korea on 10 July 1950. The particulars are as
follows.

NAME Wayne O. Meyer, PFC
Ser.No. 15412012
DOB 27 July 1931 Mansfield, Ohio
Member Co. B, 3rd Engineers Combat Battalion 24th Inf. Div

The information I have is that on. 10 July 1950,Wayne was driving a
2 1/2 ton truck loaded with demolition, in convoy returning to the CP
at Chochiwon when the convoy was straffed by friendly aircraft.
Wayne was hit and died instantly.

Other information I have is that CO. B lost two men on 10 July 1950,
1 killed and 1 missing. Can anyone help me find the truth.

Update: May 1998

Also I contacted the 24th Inf. Div through your page and got in touch
with "Rudy & Vonnie" who put out the 24th's paper the "TARO LEAF."

I sent them the same message I have on your 3rd Combat Engineers page.
Yesterday I got a letter from a guy that was in the convoy with Wayne.

He actually saw the Sgt. take Wayne's body from the cab of the truck and
hide it in a culvert. He helped off load the balance of the demolitions
while the truck was still smoldering. The convoy was straffed by
American F-80s which coincides with my own research.

Thanks for the good work

I am looking for a 1ST Lt. with last name of Drewry or very close
to that. He was reported MIA August 1950 at the Naktong River
Base. He was platoon officer in 1st platoon, C Co. 3rd Combat Eng,
24ID.

I do not have ready access to e-mail. If possible, maybe you could
send me information via the telephone.

Please help. It has been a long time, and it is time for some closure
on this issue for his family. I would be very grateful for any help.

Thank you

I am looking for someone who knew my father, Ernest Langley
(Big Ernie). My mother said he was a cook, but all he would say is
that he was in the Combat Engineers, and was wounded.

I am going to Korea soon to work. His birthday is soon, and I
thought a good present would be a hello from one of the men he
served with.

Thank You

Good Site. I was a member of the 3d Combat Engineer Bn, 24th Inf Div
from Dec 49 to Jun 51 and performed Engineer Reconnaissance Duties.

Most of my section was killed or captured o/a 25 Nov 1950 about 25 miles
south of the Yalu River, Northwest part of North Korea. Some surviving
members were Russell V. Pemberton Jr, T.C. Clark (Frewsburg NY) Donald
G. Hackford (Snoqualmie Falls WA).

We were not with the rest of the Section when they were ambushed but did
recon the area two days later with a reinforced Inf Plt of the 24th Inf
Div (Probably the 21st Inf Rgt)
