fellow members of that unit.

still missing a number. The association has been helpful in compiling a
history of the 29th infantry in the Korean war.

the regiment, or part thereof, was called up from Okinawa in June of
1950 and rushed to Korea - but was badly mauled in ensuing battles. men
surviving were assigned to other korean units - the 29th was retired
back to okinawa early in 1951.

part of the rykyus command under general douglas macarthur and general
mark clark.

any ideas in locating members from okinawa will be appreciated.

My Uncle, Charles Love (Middle name either Augustus or Gustavus)
arrived in Korea on 7/24/50 and was killed on 7/27/50, at the age of 18.
No luck for the new guy....

Can you tell me anything about him, or where to look?

Thanks,

He was one of the first men to land in South Korea and many units
were combined at that early date. Lots of confusion and a very hot
situation. Hal will point you to some very good resources on the early
days of fighting.

Issac Sarfaty 7/27/50

I am attempting to research the military history of my deceased father.
He was a man I never knew. His Army unit was one of the first sent to
Korea in late June or early July 1950. I was born in November of 1950.

My mother divorced him shortly thereafter. I have determined that he
was wounded in battle and it is possible that he was a P.O.W. I cannot
find any lists concerning P.O.W.s If it is possible, can you research
the name SARFATY, Isaac William. Thank you in advance. If you need
further information or can respond to the info supplied...I can be
reached at:

StephenB@BellSouth.net

Thanx again.

----from KWP------

Hi Stephen,

Issac was very seriously wounded by a "missle" (bullet) and evacuated
to the US and separated from service due to wounds.

His unit was the 29th Inf Rgt

If you would have any info on this list it would be greatly

I am looking for information on my uncle who was a POW in the Korean
war and never came home. How do I ask for files from the government
that contain info on PFC Orvill Linebaugh, July 27, 1950?

He was last seen on a train and was there, but not gunned down in the
"Sunchon Tunnel Massacre". It is believed he went to a POW camp on
the Yalu River or possibly to Manchuria.

Thank you

From KWP: Got the location, Chinju to Anui on their first engagement of
the war, the unit got to Korea on the 21st to 23rd.

Scott, the 29th was committed to the fight near Taejon in late July
and the Div pulled back to the defense perimeter roughly July 24th
near Yongdong.

My brother Dickie C. Martin was killed July 27, 1950 at Mason, Korea. He
landed in Korea from Okinawa with Co. B,29th Inf. Regt. He lasted maybe
three days, as did his buddies. If anyone knew him or remembers him
please contact me. I was only 7 years old when he died , so I don't have
many memories of him. If anyone can help I will appreciate it very much.
Thank you and God Bless.

I am writing to ask about how I can maybe obtain information on my uncle
who was killed in the Korean War. I am not a veteran, but my father
served in World War 2, I have no information about my uncle, except his
name was Ronald John Fisher from Iowa, maybe Marshalltown?

I was only a small child and my grandmother has been gone about 34
years. My father does not want to talk about it. So I have no way of
finding out anything. Can you help?

I found out some information on him. He was in the 29th Infantry
RGT and was killed in hostile action in Korea on July 27, 1950. He was a
PVT E2 in the Army Reserve Infantry. He received one Citation, but I
don't know what that was for.

Also there is a number maybe service serial number it is 17273503. Then
there was a HCode 127, and MOS 04745. I am sorry but I don't know what
these numbers mean.

Thank you kindly,
