Comments:

My father Emanuel Magsayo nickname was blacky or pineapple
from Hawaii served in the Marine corp in Korea from
Nov.1952/ Nov.1953 He served on the front line in combat,
He was at the hook also known as the line for 110 days,
then he was sent back to reserve in the am of the 110th day
then had to go back out that evening because Vegas hill was
under attack, he was stuck out there fighting for 8 days.
His unit didn't know if he was captured, he recalls his
whole co. going out and returning with only 100-150 men,
after the great loss of men. A Maj.Lee sent him back alone
to gather more soldiers, his replacement then consist of 8
men ranging from cooks, clerks and truck drivers that had
never been on the front line before. But during those 8
days being surrounded and fighting to keep the hill he was
declared missing in action. He was told by his cousin that
officails came and told his mother he was missing. He
served for Easy Co. 25 2nd Battalion first Marine Division.
He recalls fellow soldiers names Ervin Lindsey from
Phillidelphia, Joseph Madden from the Broncs, Another
soldier he knew by the name of Webster-his gunner. He is
thinking his commander back then was Cpt. Lawrence.

I guess 3 miles from Han River. I remember what took place in June & July 1954, there was a condition "Red" which means we were put on alert. North Koreas were doing alot of moving around on the DMZ and did not know if they were going to jump off that is what I heard. I feel the same way you do about this medal, and from what I read, it sounds like I am eligible for this medal. Is this correct??
