My grandfather Raymond E. Donohue was with C-1-5 on Reno when it was overran.
He passed away October 3, 2015. His last few days, before his last stroke took
his speech from him, dementia had set in and he began talking to his Marine
buddies that had been KIA. Looking for anyone that may have known him.

I am the niece of Jay Mann PFS H Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marine 1st
Division. He was on outpost Vegas and presumed dead March 26,1953.
I have been trying to find out more information about that unit and what
really happened to him. All the family letters from the government are the
same MIA no body found. It would be nice to just know what really happened
to him and all the others. It seem like there is no information on H company. I
would just like to find out more so that his brother the only living member of
the family left can know that it want his fault and that his brother was doing
what he wanted to do.

I am looking for information in regards to the above mentioned battles. My dad who is one very Poud Marine lost his best friend on March 28,1953. His name was Cpl E4 Edward J.Trautwein (Eddie)he was 19 years old a radio man serving in FCO 2BN 7 Mar RGT 1 Mar Div. From what my dad has told me, Eddie's unit was due to come home but his unit was needed to back up he 5th. My dad doesnt have all the information and would like to know what happend that day. If you knew my dad he felt like it should of been him not Eddie left behind. Dad said he talked Eddie into joining the Corp, while Eddie thought about the Air Force and Eddies mother pushed for the Priesthood. Eddie chose the Corp and soon wrote dad letters of how much he loved it. I havent read the letters dad wouldnt let me I guess its a father/daugher thing or two guys talking thing. Never the less dad has lived with these guilty feelings for 53 years. He has since begun talking with us his family, my mom, older brother, older sister, little sister and younger brother. After years of torment he let his torment ease with the help of our minister and encouraging words from his family. My mom years earlier had found an article in her local paper encouraging people to write to soilders overseas in Korea with their names listed. She picked Eddies name. Before he died they had been corresponding, pictures exchanged. He wrote my dad about this nice home-town girl that he had been writting to. My dad said he sounded happy. My dads unit was just coming over to Korea when Eddie died. He didnt know it at the time but he could of come home to grieve for his friend. Upon be arriving home he left San Diego hopped on a train to come back to Buffalo, NY. He made a pit stop in Walnutport PA, he wanted to meet this young woman who had made Eddie so happy and pay his respects.
As fate would have it and not as easy as it sounds they fell in love and we are the result of their love. That is why I am trying to find out what information I can for my dad. He wonders what happend that day, what went on that day? What Eddie was going through as well as the other men? When my dad came home (after his little pit-stop) he went to pay his respects to Eddies mother. My late grandmother bless her heart went with him. It was one of the hardest days of his life facing Eddies mother. My dad being nervous and feeling that odd feeling one feels at such a time. Recalls seeing Eddies Marine picture upon the mantel, next to it a medal. To this day he can not recall what it was for. When looking for information for my dad, my older brother and I can not find any listing of what medals he received. Most of Eddies family have past on now and his younger brother sadly to say can not remember any medal or star. This frustrates my dad when he thinks about it, why cant he remember.
I dont know if there is anyone out there who can help me help my dad but I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
And finally, just to let you all know there is never a day that goes by that my brothers and sisters and I do not rememeber to say "Thank-You" to any man or woman who served to that we might be free so many years ago in a War that is Not Forgotten. God Bless you and keep you as I close.
