I would like to wish all the Marines a very Happy 228th Birthday. The Birthday Party of 1954, I was at NCO Schools. We had gotten our supplies for our birthday party and about 4 days before the Marine Corp Birthday, somebody took everything (turkeys and all supplies for the party). The CID caught the poeple that took everything in a local village just over the hill from our camp. We had a wonderful birthday as they went got all new supplies for the party. Wish all the Marines a very Happy Birthday and don't eat to much turkey at Thanksgiving. God Bless all you wonderful Marines. Semper Fi Once a Marine always a Marine

Bill, Noticed in an article recently that the combat pay was increased from 10.00 to 45.00 in early '52, right after I left. At least they could have thought enough to send me an additional, as like you, I was in a university after I got out and could certainly have used the dinero!

Chris, a friend of mine that went over when I did was in the tanks also. But i have no earthly idea which unit he was in, but I do remember it was a WW11 vintage looking tank, as it didn't have the long 90 on it. His name is Nick Hernandez. Would that by chance ring a bell? His tank and several more supported us one day in taking one of those never ending hills.

Chris, what's the difference in a Regular Marine and A Reserve marine?????? When the gooks were shooting at us, never heard one of em ask wether you were one or the other. I know, first hand, that if your hit, it has the same effect, wether or not your one or the other. And never saw one fight harder than the other, nor ask a guy when he joined the unit, was he one or the other.

WARREN: FORGOT TO MENTION THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE THE MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY IS TO LOCATE A MARINE FROM MY COMPANY AFTER FIFTY YEARS. FOUND A PFC ROBERT HARRIS 51/52 WHO RET. USMC FROM OCEANSIDE, CA. AND A PFC. ROBERT J. REYES 1953, THAT'S WERE HAVING A MUSTER ROLL AND A SELECT PHONE CD WILL DO AND ALOT OF PHONE CALLS. TWO HAPPY MARINES THAT THOUGHT THAT THEY HAD BEEN FORGOTTEN. SO TO THE MARINES OUT THEWRE THAT HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT EVER HAPPEN THO THEIR BUDDIES DON'T GIVE-UP, THEY ARE STILL ALIVE AND KICKING, THAT MAKES 972 " FIGHT'EM WITH ITEM" THAT I HAVE FOUND.
